Little Soul Cafe — Restaurant in Tokyo

With a purported 14,000 soul records/vinyl (seems quite accurate if you do a quick count of the stock!) this is obviously the place to be if soul and funk on vinyl is your genre of choice. This is one-track stuff where the barman mixes the drinks and makes all the vinyl choices--leaving the vinyl cover on display for your viewing! He's a busy one-man show. It's a place that mixes well on both levels--the choice of songs/music and cocktails. Little Soul is not your typical O-cha highball or one choice of whiskey, gin and rum kind of place. Seemingly specializing in rum, there is also a hands-down best selection of gins at Little Soul.

I adore this place--the bar itself is made of wood, has a place for your feet and bag at the foot of the bar, is dimly lit and seats about 8. There is a small little lounge area with sofa and a couple of chairs immediately to your right as you walk in. But try to sit at the bar--Little Soul will take you on a higher musical journey and you won't have to teach them how to make a simple classic like a negroni. This place rocks, I mean, it's got...

Small, intimate, cozy bar with an incredible sound system and an even better music selection. The bartender throws up satisfying soul records all night, curated from his immense collection. The bar is more a library for his record collection that just happens to serve alcohol. For me, it's totally my kind of place. Relaxed, casual atmosphere with a good vibe and wide beverage selection, including upscale alcohol and probably one of the better selections of tequilas I've seen so far in Japan.

It's a small place, bar seats are 10 or less and there are at least 2 good sized couches for groups of maybe 4 max.

Can come alone or with friends, nice place to take a date for a drink...

Very cool bar with awesome tunes. The owner was playing quality soul and funk records on the Saturday night we were there. He was happy to take requests, but we left him in control as the selector and he didn't put a step wrong. He somehow knows where everything is in his record collection... Literally over a thousand in this bar! He did all this while mixing drinks in between queuing up tracks. We had a fun night, and I'd recommend to anybody with good taste in music and good liquor. Will be back next time...
