Got here just before it opened to grab some breakfast, so not everything was out yet when they opened for business. Being a Sunday, there were a lot of vegan options. I loved their baguettes (¥260), the shatteringly-crisp crust was amazing. Also, really liked the tartar sauce in the croquette bun (¥510), goes really well with the fluffy bun, freshly fried potato croquette and crunchy cabbage. The hummus bagel (¥510) was alright, lots of good stuff in it, like nuts and grains, and was generously filled with fresh ingredients, however the flavors and textures didn't make me go, "Wow".
From here on, it's bakes that I would not buy again. The blueberry muffin (¥450) was alright, wasn't too sweet, but was a little dry. The cherry tart (¥340) had a crust that was flaky, but was overbaked. The cherries in it were good, but the creamy filling was like congealed fat, and didn't have a nice flavor to it. The pretzel (¥280) tasted too greasy, and almost had a fried texture to it, which doesn't seem pretzel-like. The soy milk scone (¥240) had no sweetness to it, except perhaps the taste that it contains a lot of fat. The crust was flaky, and like the pretzel, had an almost fried texture to it.
A bit of a hit and miss, but would definitely come back again, if in the area. They accept PayPay and card. And, also have...
Read moreThe good: Oh my… this bakery was the unexpected highlight of o ur mornings in Tokyo. Tucked inside The Knot Hotel, More Than Bakery became our daily ritual. Each morning, my son and I would split the grilled cheese toastie (still dreaming about it), grab a banana (yes, they sell bananas!), and top it off with either a chocolate croissant or a sugar donut. Sweet, savoury, balanced … and absolutely delicious.
The standout: That grilled cheese toastie deserves its own fan club. And the scent of fresh-baked goods wafting through the hotel each morning? Irresistible.
Room for improvement: There’s no dedicated seating, so we made use of the hotel lobby to enjoy our breakfast. Be prepared for a little queue – it’s that popular.
Would I return? Without question. This became our breakfast staple for the entire ten-day stay. Worth it every time.
The verdict: 5 out of 5 stars – a small bakery that makes a big impression. A must-visit even if you’re not staying...
Read moreAmazing bakery in a beautiful location. Great selection of vegan breads and plenty of comfortable seats available for eating. Only minus point, they have only one cash pos and it gets terribly crowded. Absolutely needs 2 if not 3 pos. The variety of vegan items is really insane, while you are choosing your bread, new delicious type of breads keep coming out from their oven putting you in the embarrass of choice. But probably you cannot choose the one you wanna, you wanna eat them all. This bakery should be opened every day and should have more locations. Side note for their espresso. Once again disappointing experience. I know is not a Japanese culture and should not put hope to find a good espresso but seems most of places lack not only of details but also of the fundamentals. Regular...
