Il Sole Gatto — Restaurant in Tokyo

My husband was running the Tokyo marathon so we made reservations here for the night before so he could have a filling, carb filled meal. I had heard getting Italian in Japan could be either really great or really awful. Luckily for us, we found an exceptional spot. The restaurant is small and homey. We did the Prix fixed menu and it was spot on. The beginning plate of mozzarella, veggies and prosciutto was a nice touch. The Bolognese was fabulous and a bit spicy which was great for me, because I love a little kick on my palate. I had the short rib which was tender as could be and did not disappoint. Dinner ended with a twist on tiramisu that is not to be missed. We spent two weeks in Japan, and this meal is in my top 5 of all the wonderful...

We had been in Japan for a couple of weeks so despite our love for the food here, was seeking an alternate option for a night. A short walk from our accomodation to the back streets of Shinjuku, this is a brilliant find.

The best Italian food I personally have ever had (no I haven’t been to Italy before you ask), beats anything I’ve tried in Australia.

How lucky we got finding this tiny little back alley gem. The atmosphere was delightful. The food was absolutely delicious. And the chef and service were outstanding. If we lived in Shinjuku we’d be back at least once a week. We had the caprese salad, carbonara and homemade apple pie. We are visiting from Canada and can’t say enough good things about this Italian restaurant....
