Disappointing Experience - Poor Service and Unjustified Rushing
Our experience at MORETHAN TAPAS LOUNGE was extremely disappointing, and I cannot recommend it to anyone looking for good service or a pleasant dining atmosphere.
We first visited around 14:00 for a drink. The staff were unwelcoming, insisting we could only sit at one particular table without providing any clear explanation. It felt unnecessarily rigid, but we decided to give the place another chance for dinner later that evening—unfortunately, things only got worse.
When we arrived for dinner, we were immediately informed we needed to leave by 18:00. Despite this strict deadline, our food took 45 minutes to arrive and the server told us "You still have 12 minutes.” The rushing didn’t stop there—other staff repeatedly came by to remind us that we couldn’t order anything more and had to leave promptly by 18:00.
What made this treatment especially frustrating was that the restaurant was far from busy. When we left at 18:10, two-thirds of the tables were still empty. It’s hard to understand why we were being pushed out so aggressively in an almost empty restaurant.
To top it off, we spent ¥12,000 on a quite average meal, and when we asked for an explanation about the rushed service and poor treatment, the staff had no justification or remorse.
This level of service is unacceptable. If you’re considering dining here, I’d advise against it. The food is overpriced, and the staff seem more concerned with clearing out customers than providing an enjoyable...
Read moreThe good: My favourite out of The Knot’s entire food and drink line-up. More Than Tapas quickly became our daily ritual – a comforting, familiar end to each jam-packed Tokyo day. After hours on our feet in the 32-degree heat, we’d return to the hotel and head straight to the bar: gin and tonic for me, apple juice for my son. We’d sit, unwind, and chat with the lovely bar staff – especially Robin, Lorenzo, Yamada and Koh – who truly made the experience memorable.
The standout: The staff. Their warmth, attentiveness and genuine interest in our day made it feel like more than just a restaurant. Robin even showed my son a few bar tricks! Bonus shoutout for the surprisingly excellent coffee each morning too – and that same apple juice for my son before we headed off to More Than Bakery.
Room for improvement: Honestly, nothing springs to mind. It was consistently welcoming, whether we popped in for a coffee, lunch, or end-of-day wind-down.
Would I return? Without hesitation. We were genuinely sad to leave – the staff here were such a big part of why The Knot felt like home.
The verdict: 5 out of 5 stars – for the food, the drinks, the vibe… but mostly for the people. More Than Tapas is the heart of...
Read moreWhat to say is an average place when it comes to the food. The taste is good, but the portions( even if tapas) are not really there.
We ordered Nachos, and someone would expect to see Nachos delivered To our surprise, we got some French fries with guacamole and tomatoes.
If in a menu is see Nachos, I expect nachos, not French fries, which also have a much much lower cost.
It is like ordering Tuna as receiving salmon.
You should adjust your menu to reflect what the person is ordering. And I do not accept the excuse that this the way your "nachos".
Said so the flavour of the dishes are good, but overall...
