This standing sushi bar at Kinshicho Station is one of Tokyo’s best-kept secrets. Operated by Nemuro Hanamaru, known for Hokkaido seafood, the quality here rivals high-end omakase—but at a fraction of the price. Even if you go all out, you’re likely spending only around ¥4,000 per person. That’s for a full stomach of pristine, thick-cut sushi made to order right in front of you.

The seafood is exceptionally clean and fresh, with a lineup that includes everything from melt-in-your-mouth chutoro to seasonal local catches. The chef is warm, welcoming, and happy to walk you through recommendations if you’re unsure. There’s an English menu available, and the service is fast but never rushed.

While it doesn’t offer the fancy ambiance of a full-service omakase, the value is unbeatable. It’s standing-only, so expect a quick, casual experience. That said, the sushi here easily competes with more formal spots charging 4–5x more for similar cuts, just with a few less premium ingredients.

If you’re in Sumida or near Kinshicho, this spot is a must—whether you’re a sushi purist or just want a high-quality meal without breaking the bank. Get there early to...

Standing sushi bar just opened. Probably not English-friendly, you have to write in Japanese your order and hand to the chef. Everything is fresh and service quality is good. Get in there a little early and there is no wait on weekdays. Price is for 1 piece, so pricier than many establishments, but much cheaper than proper sushi restaurants.

Expect to pay ¥4500/person for...

Great place and affordable price for a quick dinner. Very friendly to foreign visitors. Easy way to order the sushi. (Clear and multi language menu) My companion and I had large suitcases with us. And the space is big enough for us to set aside the suitcases. Had a short talk with the sushi chef. It was a...

Standing sushi place at Kinshicho, right outside the gates for the JR line. One of the best I've had in Tokyo. Hands down, if you have the chance, go there. My wife and I absolutely love the place. Last time we both ate as much as we could and the tab was around 7k JPY. Definitely recommended!
