A famous meat shop from Gotanda opened an outlet at Azabudai Hills Market, with an interesting concept of serving kids’ meals, but for adults. Business seemed brisk, with a queue appearing by 11:20, so I decided to pop by for lunch the next day.
We tried both the diced steak, as well as the erstwhile “kids’ meal” (the Parlor Yazawa Plate, as they call it), with an additional fried scallop. The opening consommé was merely okay, with someone hilariously describing it as “like Bovril”. And the diced steak was rather overcooked in parts, ranging from medium to medium-well. But the last plate fared much better.
Firstly, for a butcher, the seafood is of surprisingly high quality. The scallops are especially notable for being thick and sweet. Would go back just for this. The hamburg is no slouch either, being juicy and pairing well with the wagyu meat sauce (+¥150). If this was a kids’ meal, it’s amped up to a whole new level (perhaps only the pasta stayed in its lane, haha, being slightly overcooked).
Overall, a fair meal at a fair price if you stick with the Parlor...
Read moreWe visited around 11:30 on a weekday, there was one group before us and the wait wasn’t too long.
We ordered Yazawa plate and wagyu beef curry plus chicken katsu.
I particularly like their deep fried item, the batter and the frying technique is very well managed. The outside is crispy and the food inside is not overcooked. The curry has interesting acidity and is quite different from my impression on Japanese curry. The burger is consistently cooked to a same level, when you put your knife onto it, you will see the juice/gravy come out of inside. It’s delicious however personally I did not find much difference between wagyu and regular burger.
We read a review before and we have the same finding on the fork as well — maybe the stem is too heavy so the teeth part keeps...
Read moreA great Japanese western style combo meal set (Yoshiki) inside Azabudai Hills Market which is not the most quiet place but I suggest you go there just for the food alone or maximum 2 pax. Their signature combo plate includes hamburg, ebi-fry (fried panko crusted shrimp), sausage, mashed potato, ketchup spaghetti (classic garnish). Comes with consommé soup but mine had a slightly funky beefy flavor (kind of game-y in a bad way). There are many additions to choose from and I chose katsu.
The utensil esp. the fork is just so design oriented that it’s difficult to use, is it only me? This has nothing to do with the review but I have to add,...
