Tokyo's Hidden Gems: Top-Tier Speakeasies Part 1⃣️

We had an amazing meal at Peter restaurant on the 24th floor of the Peninsula Hotel. It was truly a culinary adventure from the Hokkaido Scallops to the Kobe beef. The scallops were cooked perfectly as was the Kobe beef. We also had Okinawa pork shoulder and that was just okay. It tasted good but wasn't as tender as I would have expected. For sides we had the mushrooms and asparagus. Both were very delicious and the mushroom portion was huge. To wash it all down we splurged on a bottle of 2016 Silver Oak Cabernet Sauvignon that was fantastic. One of my favorite wines with great beef. For dessert we had a peach thingy that was very light and not sweet at all. It was the perfect finish after such a big meal. The staff were very attentive and friendly and made sure our dining experience was perfect from start to finish. The view of Tokyo was very delightful. It wasn't the best being in Ginza area but better than the B1F Asahi views the night before 😆 Overall this is a great choice if you are looking for an "elevated" dining experience.

Great hotel, with a fantastic view! We were lucky to have had the best table in the restaurant! For lunch set, salads and deserts are all-you-can eat + a main course. The ambiance is more modern, with a night club feel. For the price, the meals were good and the services were excellent! The only complaint I have is that they allowed people in the lounge to smoke during meal time which was really a bad idea for us non-smokers who were trying to enjoy a great meal!

Not our first time here but perhaps it will be the last. Our dinner was served late, and we only got to our main course (the 4th dish out of a 5 dish meal) one and a half hours after ordering. None of the dishes were superbly delicious. The fish dishes smelled, and my partner couldn't finish her main duck dish because that smelled too. They didn't put the fuzzy mineral water bottle we order in a bucket of ice. Our bill was around JPY60,000 which I think is too much for the experience.

The staff was polite: They did try to make up for the uneaten main dish by presenting us with some extra chocolates during dessert. But that's not enough to save the day.

I give 1 star for the view that you get from the top of the hotel, and another star for the effort...
