As other’s have mentioned, if you want a Western/American style steakhouse, this is probably your best choice in Tokyo. We recently went for my birthday and it was my first time trying a Ruth’s Chris anywhere in the world. The atmosphere is very much “steakhouse” with a very dimly lit atmosphere, and wood paneling on the walls. The service was very attentive and for the most part very good, and dare I say very proper. My partner and I decided to share a porterhouse (40 oz) and share crab cakes, soup, and Caesar salad. To be honest, we did not intend to share all of our appetizers, but they only charged us for one each and split them evenly – which I was very happy about when I got the bill. The portions would also have been too large for one person too eat all if given the whole portion, With our steak, we ordered mashed potatoes and potatoes au gratin, and we both agreed that the mashed potatoes were better than the au gratin (potatoes were sliced too thickly and could have been cooked longer/more tender). Since it was my birthday, they gave me a free chocolate mouse like cake which was delicious, we also ordered crème brulé, and their cheesecake. By this point it was far too much food, and we had to take the cheesecake home (the cheesecake is not a slice, but rather sort of a mini whole cheesecake. Their wine list is also extensive, albeit most of the wines are very pricey. We really did enjoy our experience and the dinner, however, I can’t say that I would go twice unless for a very special occasion. While it is expensive, it was not the price so much as the combination of pretty standard steakhouse fare and the price. I would also say that having been another famous steakhouse chain in the U.S., I can’t say that Ruth’s Chris is the best. Nonetheless, definitely worth a try if you’re craving the American steakhouse experience, or just want to treat yourself on a...
Read moreMy wife and I hadn’t had the best food in Tokyo and found it very hard to find English speakers or menus in English. My wife had her heart set on trying Fugu but apparently it wasn’t in season. Our light dinner plans were turned upside down and we asked the concierge at our hotel to see if they could secure a last minute reservation at Ruth’s Chris for us. Luckily he did and when we arrived we were greeted by a wonderful server named Shalaby. He took wonderful care of us from the moment we walked in, until the moment he personally escorted us outside to our cab after our meal. Our meal was absolutely delicious, hands down best we had in Tokyo. Our service was above and beyond, no trouble with communication and the menu was in English and we shared a meal without any frustration from our server. This typically can be an issue in the US. A great ending to a disappointing start to the evening as trying Fugu was highest on my wife’s list but Ruth’s Chris and especially Shalaby for the win! We typically don’t want to eat somewhere abroad that we can get in the US, that said, a taste of home and a kind gentleman was just what the doctor ordered! Thanks so much for taking the time to make our evening special despite we didn’t rack...
Read moreI love Ruth’s Chris in New Orleans and I love it even more in Tokyo!
I came here one time for my birthday because as usual Ruth’s Chris is expensive. I had the signature crab cakes and I also tried the Wagyu ribeye. If I’m fine dining in Japan, night as well try the high quality Japanese steak.
The atmosphere is elegant, cozy and romantic. It was pretty dark so hard to take pictures but I really enjoyed it.
I enjoyed the martini and crab cake was delicious as usual. The wagyu ribeye was delicious!!!! It was so tender, juicy and had the perfect amount of fat. It was also very buttery and everything I wanted for a Wagyu ribeye. I’m not sure if the picture does the steak justice but it was pretty big. This restaurant does do takeout which is rare in Japan. I took my leftovers home and it was just as delicious the next day.
If I could afford it, I would definitely go back to taste the Wagyu ribeye...
