Terrible experience all around. The only good thing about this place is the atmosphere created by the location and decor.
My friend and I visited and I didn't even want to eat anything, yet I was forced to order at least a drink (there is no free water or tea like at literally every other restaurant I've visited in Japan). The food that my friend ordered then took around 40 minutes to arrive, which already made us inclined to leave. As we didn't know about the "appetizer you didn't order but still have to pay for" we snacked on the little basket of chips (which had an overpowering wasabi flavor so they weren't even good). Not only did they charge us for this without knowing, they charged double, despite the portion of this "appetizer" serving around half a person. When my friend's food eventually arrived, the portion size was small, the dish looked boring and not appetizing and the taste was very average. Also, having one of the workers shouting at the top of their lungs practically right into my ear trying to attract new customers was extremely annoying. It was basically impossible to have a proper conversation. So while my friend initially just wanted some food for around 1000¥, we ended up paying around 2500¥ for the food, the forced drink order, the "appetizer" x2 and for some reason another 200¥ fee on top??
I incline you to avoid this place like the plague. If I could give them 0 stars, I...
Read moreI rate places as I expect them. This is an Izakaya. I expect Izakaya type food with an izakaya atmosphere. It's on a busy walkway. There are many izakaya's. There's a lot of people.
The first place we sat down at the beginning of the walk asked us if we had reservation. We didn't. We got up and ended up here.
The food is good for an Izakaya. The waitresses and the guys coming out with the food were prompt as far as bars go. "Sumimasen" and "Gomenasai" helps in getting their attention. "Kore" (This), and "ippon" or "ni-mai"... helps too while pointing when ordering. They have pics on their menus. The next stall had a lot of tourists like us. This one had locals.
I had 4 highballs in this short session (because I can drink) and my brothers had a couple of beers, maybe more - no clue wasn't watching them. Just wanted to have a good atmosphere evening. It was a good evening. If you're a foreigner, regardless of what Izakaya, get the karaage, you'll never KFC again. This place had good Izakaya food. We had other items. (Sorry, should have taken more pics of the food, but I was noticing that people were noticing us eating and ended up sitting down.). After tallying out and getting up, it was nice to exchange small bows across the long tables with the waitress who had to deal with us (especially with a slightly more inebriated sibling.). It was nice. We...
Read moreWe ordered a couple of beers and the waitress brought out the wrong drinks (non alcoholic beer). When she brought out the alcoholic beer, we asked the waitress to remove the non alcoholic beer from our table and she left them there despite numerous requests to remove them as they were the wrong order. She had no idea what we asked for even though we used Google translate!!
We couldn’t believe the lack of knowledge or service - they did not care for our patronage. When we went to pay, after asking for the bill a couple of times, they charged us for the non alcoholic beer after we requested for a receipt. We argued with 3 of the staff that we did not order these non alcoholic beers yet they still insisted they wanted to charge us, and they gave us attitude!! They told us we had already drank those beers but NO, we drank multiple alcoholic beers and the non alcoholic remained on the table. Anyway, to cut a long story short, please do not drink or eat there!!! They tried to rip us off but we insisted that it was the waitress’ mistake who could not comprehend our request, even though we pointed to the name of the drink on the menu 😳.
So seedy and non- Japanese culture. Apologies for the long story but we were so upset with the dispute especially being our last day in Japan. Please do NOT stop by...
