TLDR: one unclean and rude chef ruined our nights. Would maybe recommend if you’re a foreigner by appearance, and got there outside of busy hours. Would not if otherwise.

The food is good for the price. The meat was medium rare but it could not be chewed through so we had to swallow it whole, but the flavor was there.

What ruined the night for us was the attitude of a single chef after waiting for more than an hour on a hot summer’s night with nowhere to sit.

He was unnecessarily rude to my 60 year old mother who’s at least twice his age, and scolded her with an attitude as if scolding a child, with none of the respectfulness expected from the famed hospitality of the Japanese customer service. In fact, I have not seen such unwarranted rudeness from any American restaurant staff either.

And you might be wondering, what did my mother do? She stepped out of the waiting cue to go in front of the restaurant window and look at the food displays. Oh, might I add that there was no sign outside the door that says exiting the queue was not allowed, yet he told us “if you don’t follow the rules of this restaurant, you’re not welcome to dine here”. I’m sorry, where was this said “rule” posted, again?

This particular chef (wearing a dirty chef’s uniform, in contrast to the other chef whose uniform was spotless and tucked in) seems to also have offended other guests, for the people next to us were complaining to each other about his rudeness in English as they were leaving. We also observed another group that had their table cleared without having finished, so they had to finish drinking their waters while standing. Yet they were rushed out without even being allowed to do even that.

So whilst everything else in the restaurant would’ve warranted a 4, the behavior of 1 person made this experience a waste of time and money.
