An amazing experience! This is a very small, but homey and DELICIOUS Izakaya. we don't speak any Japanese, and the chef did a great job accommodating us. What matters most is the food: the chef explained he used several seasonal vegetables and fish in season, the squid shabu shabu was divine, and the several sakes we tried were quite tasty. I can't say enough about the vibe. Smooth music on the background, regulars sprinkling in over time, clearly an appreciated neighborhood staple. Highly recommend!

Extremely delicious food and very sweet service. Both service and cooking done by the same person. His English is good and can guide you. Also gave us two different sake on his recommendation which were very tasty :) Japanese menu but can be translated with Google lens. Karaage, ginger pork and sashimi were highlights! Please note that the pictures are servings for 5 people to share. The chef makes it so that it suits the size of the group.

Amazing little izakaya tucked in Nakameguro near Daikanyama. Leading the helm was a one man chef/server who was delightful to watch and interact with. The food he served up was incredibly delicate and well balanced — order the karaage, sashimi moriawase and grilled fish dish. Orange sake was also delightful to wash down the food. Would highly recommend, I loved every bite from the appetizers to the daifuku we got as dessert!

During my vacation in Tokyo, I stumbled upon Izakaya Taro—a hidden gem in a slightly off-the-beaten-path location, but absolutely worth the trip! This restaurant offers an authentic local experience that I won’t soon forget. The menu, beautifully handwritten in Japanese, added an air of excitement to the evening. We asked for recommendations and were treated to exquisite sashimi and other delightful seafood dishes.

The atmosphere was fantastic—cozy, intimate, and filled with lively conversations. A highlight of the night was sharing sake with other guests at the bar. The bottle featured Robert De Niro from Taxi Driver, which made the experience even more unique and memorable.

Thank you, Izakaya Taro, for an unforgettable evening of amazing food, warm hospitality, and great memories. If you're in Tokyo, this is a spot you simply...

This was one of our favorite meals during our vacation in Tokyo. The neighborhood was quiet and trendy. The restaurant is very small and we had a very personalized experience with the owner as we were the only patrons there. His English was very good and we were able to easily translate the hand-written menu with Google Translate. We ate grilled mushrooms, grilled baby corn, clam spaghetti, and probably some others that I can't recall because I ate them...
