During my vacation in Tokyo, I stumbled upon Izakaya Taro—a hidden gem in a slightly off-the-beaten-path location, but absolutely worth the trip! This restaurant offers an authentic local experience that I won’t soon forget. The menu, beautifully handwritten in Japanese, added an air of excitement to the evening. We asked for recommendations and were treated to exquisite sashimi and other delightful seafood dishes.
The atmosphere was fantastic—cozy, intimate, and filled with lively conversations. A highlight of the night was sharing sake with other guests at the bar. The bottle featured Robert De Niro from Taxi Driver, which made the experience even more unique and memorable.

This is a very small, but homey and DELICIOUS Izakaya. we don't speak any Japanese, and the chef did a great job accommodating us.
What matters most is the food: the chef explained he used several seasonal vegetables and fish in season, the squid shabu shabu was divine, and the several sakes we tried were quite tasty.
I can't say enough about the vibe. Smooth music on the background, regulars sprinkling in over time, clearly an appreciated neighborhood staple....
