Pink Cow in Tameike Sanno. I want to try some Western food for a change. I ordered the Barbacoa Chimichanga. The paintings on the walls here are very interesting. Hard to describe but certainly they make a positive impression, especially the depth. English echoes off the walls for a change. Kale salad with Caesar dressing. Very nice Spanish rice. Fried in a way that's very pleasing. Pork in the chimichanga is very soft and tender. The fried tortilla itself is lightly crisp and very good. Ah, but the melted cheese is delicious. With the black beans, all of it together is simply delightful. All of this is very good. I'm especially enjoying the guacamole which has a nice, only lightly salted flavor to him. The Cholula hot sauce only adds positively, though I think the dish overall doesn't require it to function. I really do like that pork. It's one of a kind. I definitely can say that I greatly enjoy this place. One of the better western restaurants I've been to in Japan or perhaps even the world. This is how a burrito should be in my opinion. It should allow all the base ingredients to come together and be tasted at once. I think if there is one thing I dislike, it's that I can't enjoy it for longer. That was incredibly good. I will say that an Asahi draught beer probably isn't the best beverage to enjoy this with though. Something more light, perhaps fruity, would work better. A corona beer with one of those citrus peels would be good. However, I'm quite content. I seldom eat Western food anymore and most Japanese people don't tend to like the strong flavors common to it. But the proprietress here is an American who has lived here for some years. She has brought her home abroad while still assimilating into the greater community. I think that's wonderful. If more foreigners were able to do that, I think Japan would be in a good place. I do like these paintings. They have a character that's both modern yet also based on nature. Two worlds coming together into one. So as the paintings, so is the Pink Cow. I must come back. I enjoyed my dining experience. But now I'm off to have a long night. #akasakamitsuke #burrito #pork #westernfood #beans...
Read moreSlow, like apocalypticly slow. It was an hour and a half from the time I ordered until my salad came. An hour and a half for a salad! There didn't appear to be an actual kitchen at all. Half the chairs are benches, the other half low backless stools. Our food came out one plate at a time in random order and took two hours for it all to arrive. It was ok food, nothing fantastic. The salad was a bit soggy, the a bit bland. Again, ok, but it was not worth the wait. The server was very nice and friendly. She was the only upside. Beware the alcoholic drinks are very strong! It was very small and crowded, tables nearly touching each other. Mostly, it was the wait, the longest wait I've ever had in a restaurant, especially on such an uncomfortable chair that made it...
