My wife and I enjoyed refreshing cocktails and fun at the Raining Circus tonight. (To find it, look for the small black and white “tRC” sign above the entry stairs, then enter through a door with a “DANGER” / lightning bolt sign. Inside is even better. We had an interesting chat with the host, bartender and owner, Big K. On this Monday night, business was slow, which was lucky for us, since we don’t speak Japanese. We both asked for his beverage recommendations. We were pleasantly surprised by the presentation and memorable taste experience. I appreciated his fluent and natural English skill, because, as a foreigner, I thought I would not be able to join most conversations. Big K mentioned that he also owns another bar, closer to Shinjuku Station. Thoughtful design of the room, walls, serving glassware and cups—even the furniture—all contribute to a feeling of a special and secret hideout, adding a cool vibe, yet comfortable. We will surely return.

Came here on my last night in Japan and had the most wonderful experience. Had the pleasure of being served by K, who made what I believe to be the two best drinks I’ve ever had in my life. I had the intermission and an original cocktail which consisted of vanilla ice cream, rum, and homemade vanilla syrup. Not only did K make amazing drinks, he also made amazing conversation, being bilingual me and my friends were able to easily communicate with him, joking and conversing for our entire visit. I don’t think I can recommend this bar more, quite honestly the best experience in such a pleasant bar, paired with an amazing bartender who makes the best drinks.

Went to the raining circus a few nights ago and I’m so upset there is no bar like this back home. Amazing cocktails, great interior and lovely host! K was a pleasure to talk to and he is passionate about cocktails / cocktail making, it really was a pleasure to sit there and talk to him! Love the speak - easy aesthetic. Only thing was it was hard to find the entrance at first. Will for sure be back next time I’m in Tokyo. 10/10 really
