Better fluffy pancakes than A Happy Pancake Omotesando! I still haven’t been to Flipper’s, unfortunately.
We swung by Flipper’s Shibuya around 10:30am on a Friday and were horrified by the long line out front. I looked up other pancake spots in the area and found this location, which is located on the fifth floor of a hotel / park / shopping complex. The restaurant isn’t anything fancy, although the price tag is catered to tourists. Before 11am, they serve their breakfast menu at a set 2970 JPY per person, which includes one entree and an unlimited salad and drink bar. We were picked our seats overlooking the park of dead grass, then placed our orders of the ricotta pancakes eggs benedict and the ricotta pancakes with seasonal fruits, yogurt whip, and maple syrup.
And wowww these pancakes were bomb. Both entrees come with two pancakes each. The pancakes are jiggly, soft, and fluffy. I was impressed! Especially with the savory pancakes, as the pancakes were a surprisingly good vehicle for the eggs, smoked salmon, avocado, and hollandaise sauce on top. The hollandaise sauce was actually a bit heavy in flavor given the lightness of the pancake, but it was easy to scrape off. As for the sweet pancakes, I wish they gave a bit more whipped cream hehe.
The salad bar was good, and they had this delicious muscat grape herbal tea as part of their drinks bar.

Read moreIf you’re looking for this restaurant let me save you some time. There is an elevator in the middle ish of the building near escalators that are gated. Google tries to take you here ish. Take that elevator to the roof. You’ll see it on the opposite side of the park and skatepark as an additional multi story building. Go into the cafe, walk past everything to the opposite side where you’ll find another elevator that will take you to the restaurant.
So obviously it’s a bit hard to find imo, but the food is excellent. We went for breakfast and they have a kind of buffet of fruit, yogurt, bread, sausage, etc. And you also order a main dish. I had the little soufflé looking dudes and they were amazingly fluffy and delicious. Not too...
Read moreA lovely breakfast spot overlooking Miyashita Park. The system is great: you choose one main dish from the menu and then help yourself to a semi-buffet that includes items like sausages. It's a relaxed and efficient way to start the day. The staff were very friendly, and the views of the park make it a...
