If you go up the wide wooden steps, the entrance is on the left (the other is the waiting area and gallery). There's a display with queue information and usually there's someone to greet you and let you know how long you might have to wait for. You're supposed to get seated first and then go up to the counter to order.
I went in at around 12 on a Saturday and managed to get a seat outside without waiting. The backboard doesn't list everything; check the paper menu instead. You then wait at the far left of the counter for your drink and go back to your table to wait for food. I even got a helpful sign saying what time I could stay until.
The coffee and cake is served pretty fast but you'll probably have to wait for your meal. The coffee was quite nice; I chose the more fruity blend and the taste actually came through despite the milk. The salad was unexpectedly large and I was really full afterwards.
Service was helpful although they were in a hurry. They cleared tables pretty fast but there's a bottleneck at the counter while people make their orders. Bathroom is at the back near the roaster.
The thing is, it's relatively expensive and you probably have to wait for a seat. And while the coffee was good, I'm not sure it's worth a special trip just to try it. But if you're in the area with plenty of time, it's a nice place to...
Read moreCoffee/Food The coffee is delicious. I’ve never had the desserts, but they look fantastic. I usually come here for lunch and get the shrimp Cobb salad with soup for ¥1500. It seems a little bit pricey for just a salad, but the bowl is huge and worth the price. The tomato bisque is a nice addition and comes with the lunch set, along with a slice of bread. If you don’t like coffee, they have caffeine free herbal teas that you can substitute for the set drink.
Ambiance Very clean and simple no-frills interior. Almost a little too simple, and it doesn’t have that cozy coffee shop feeling. The roasting room is separated from the dining area by glass, which gives the space an interesting twist. I assume that they use it early in the morning, because I’ve never seen it in action.
The wooden terrace has a completely feel. The tables are surrounded by potted flowers and trees and each table has an overhead heater next to it so that guests can still sit outside on chilly days.
The thing that really destroys the atmosphere for me is the pop country radio that the shop plays both in and outside. There is no escape!
Staff I never get a smile when I walk in and the staff always seem reluctant to deal with customers, even if they don’t seem to be busy. However, they have an English menu so it is...
Read moreThe flow of entering the cafe really needs to be improved. I was not the only person who came in and reserved my seat by leaving my bag. And though I was mistakenly did that, it wasn’t right of them to take my bag away. For those who don’t know, you take a queue paper and wait to be seated. There was a gallery behind this cafe, so at first I wasn’t sure if people who were sitting were for this cafe or for the gallery. There was a time when the staff almost took away an already seated customer just because she went to toilet. You gotta stop taking people’s stuff! BLT sandwich set was decent in price and portion. There are other cafes I’ve been where you have to pay extra for drinks. But the bread omg was really hard and dry… The cashier was lovely and she could speak English when speaking with foreigner customers (and she also asked me if I got a table which I said I did) but the one who kept taking customer’s belongings really needed to improve her お持て成し tbh I already said I’m sorry for not knowing how to be seated, there was really no need to be...
