the small bakery had a cute little selection of baked goods but i would say these baked goods are unfortunately not the best i’ve had in japan. The items were denser, not airy, not really special nothing stood out. And some of the items were just not exciting to eat. The honey toast we wish was crispier on the outside and the toast itself was tough. The buttery sweet roll was dense and not fluffy or anything, the cannele was tough on the outside and inside was just seemingly mid. The salted croissant with egg salad was okay but the roll itself wasn’t anything special, no rice flour in the dough or anything, the outside again was tough and the roll wasn’t very airy or squishy, also with there was salt more spread out on the roll. The egg salad inside the roll was a bit too strong with the truffle and there was oil kind of greasing the egg salad inside the roll. Just not the best sando i’ve had out here. The french toast again ws kind of tough and the bread wasn’t eggy or fluffy, just really dense once again. there are such good options elsewhere. All being said the service was amazing and the little bake shop itself is super super cute. I didn’t eat at the little restaurant i think they have close by and perhaps that place has amazing food, the menu...
Read moreThe best pistachio creme canoli pastry I've ever had. I still dream of it sometimes... even after weeks from my Japan trip!
It was somewhat out of the way for where I was staying, but I saw the desserts and had to make the trek out there. It was about 20 min train ride and a 15 min walk for me. It's quite a small bakery, but the baked goods I got to try made me come back two more times after my first visit! I wish I could've chosen from wider selection of their goods, but it looks like they are a very popular bakery, so the time I make the trek over, most of their items are sold out.
I'd say come earlier in the day if you want a chance for all their freshly baked goodies! The exterior is charming, a warm light and friendly staff make this classy bakery feel very homey!
There's are a couple of benches out on the front, and a few drink vending machines in the area, so if it's a nice day, sitting and enjoying your desserts and pastries could be a great option. If you like pistachios, you have got to try their pistachio creme canoli!!
I wished they stocked their items a bit better, and the location is a bit far from where I was visiting! So, if you are passing by the area or planning to visit locations close by, I'd recommend...
Read moreStopping by this bakery before enjoying it with a coffee next door has quickly become a ritual for my partner and me when we visit Japan. The vibe inside is cottage core, and I feel like I've stepped into a real life Ghibli bakery. The yellow bread which is brioche, I'm assuming, is always a must to put in my carry on to take home. To consume the day of, I would recommend the croissant and the savory specials. They seem to refresh the flavors every now and then. The tomato, basil, mozzarella calzone was stellar. The sweet potato cream cheese was a close second. You really can't go wrong and do take some back with you if you're visiting! They hold up well and make a nice, self-care type of "souvenir" for...
