My husband and I love getting massages. We usually go once a month at home, and when we’re on vacation (2–3 times a year) we really like to stock up. We’ve had countless massages in many different places, so I feel like we have a good sense of what to expect. Unfortunately, this was one of our least favorite experiences.
First, the positives: the staff was incredibly sweet and welcoming. The location was a bit hard to find, but when I called, the woman at the front actually came out to help us find our way, which I really appreciated. The space itself was cute and had a relaxing vibe.
That being said, the massage itself wasn’t what we had hoped for. We booked a 90 minute Thai massage, something we’ve had many times before, but this felt more like a very hard pressure massage. Before we started, no one asked us any questions about areas to focus on, injuries, or areas to avoid… which is unusual compared to other places we’ve visited. From the start, the face-down position and pillow setup made both of our necks hurt, and that discomfort lasted throughout.
I usually enjoy deep tissue work (I’m a personal trainer and need it often), but the pressure applied here felt more painful than therapeutic. At times I was trying to breathe through it, but my body was tensing up instead of relaxing. I eventually asked her to ease up, which she did, but then the deeper pressure would return and I’d tense again. My husband, who never deals with neck pain, actually left with neck discomfort, which says a lot.
When it was over, instead of feeling relaxed from our travels, we both felt the opposite. I even found myself wishing we had booked a 60 minute session first to test it out, or just gone back to the place we visited the day before, which was much more enjoyable.
I did notice a sign offering discounts for leaving a review, and while I think that’s a nice incentive, I also feel it’s important to be honest so that future guests know what to expect. Overall, while the staff was wonderful and the environment was nice, the massage itself didn’t meet our expectations and left us more tense than when...
Read moreTHE BEST THAI MASSAGE in Tokyo. 🥹 This is a legitimate Thai Massage place with therapists that are legitimately masters in their work in massaging and healing my legs.
After walking 30k steps for 7 days straight and climbing 87 flights average, of course my knees were giving up. I still have a lot more walking to go on this trip so naturally I had to find a good Thai Massage place, which can be hard to find based on my own exp. After trying out 5 different places that were uhh.. more for pleasure clinics, I finally found Sri Aitthaya. 🥹 It’s a clothes on, no extra frill traditional Thai massage service. You’ll get stretched out and your knots worked out in a session.
If you are in the same predicament where you truly can’t walk anymore or want to prevent having a bad time on your trip, look no further than Sri Ayutthaya. They take card and cash as well. It’s very affordable for the work they do. Very petite women, but they are super strong and get deep tissue right. I recommend booking an appointment by sending them an email or going...
Read moreMy wife and I had an absolutely wonderful experience at Sri Ayutthaya Thai Massage! From the moment we walked in, the intimate and serene atmosphere set the stage for a truly relaxing time. It was a special treat to be able to have our massages side-by-side.
I had the pleasure of having Bee as my masseuse, and she was fantastic. The massage was incredibly soothing and exactly what I needed. I felt a sense of realignment and deep relaxation afterward. The aromatherapy and the high-quality oils they used were a perfect complement to the massage, and I highly recommend adding the oil to your experience!
My wife's experience with Ms. Ning was equally impressive. She mentioned that Ms. Ning was the consummate professional and provided a fantastic massage. If you have the opportunity to choose your masseuse, my wife highly recommends requesting Ms. Ning.
Overall, it was an excellent experience for both of us. We left feeling refreshed and rejuvenated. We will...
