Horaiken Ramen — Restaurant in Toyako

Because lots of restaurants were closed due to Golden Week, I stumbled into this ramen joint as the opposite Italian restaurant was full.

The food was okay, slightly higher in price. Seems like it is run by an old couple with some staff. The husband who is the cook seems friendly. The wife has a very grumpy look but not necessarily rude. Given the benefit of doubt, I believe she witnessed years of unruly tourists that scarred her from her hospitality haha 😅

Still had a decent meal. But there are better options. Consider Sendoan which is located at the Wakasaimo Honpo...

We walked into what seemed like the only restaurant open at 6pm on a Sunday. The lights were dim and the couple running the place were very tired looking. There was a weather channel on the tv and it felt like we shouldn’t have walked in. I did read the reviews and felt like they are somewhat accurate.

The food is cheap but your basic ramen only has one piece of meat. The bowl was quite filling still. The couple working there sounded like they had a cold too.

We went to this ramen place because the place we wanted to go was closed. Mistakes were made. I knew i was at the wrong place as soon as i stepped foot in and saw 1 foreigner in the whole restaurant. The price was ridiculous we had 2 beers miso ramen wanted to feel a little fancy and added butter and corn as topping. Came out to 4330¥.
