Vege&bar シンバル — Restaurant in Toyama

The whole experience was a deception for which I have to deduct two stats at least. We arrived without reservation but as there was apparently still place, we were seated at the bar. We were nicely helped with selecting our drinks and the food. The first dish was served within acceptable time but after that we had to wait for over an hour. Only at that point the waitress informed us that the food of customers with a reservation was given priority. I have never heard of such a ridiculous thing in a restaurant. If you do not have the capacity to seat us, don't. Nothing was given as compensation except a small piece of tofu 5 minutes before after 1.5h the rest of our food arrived. It is so bad this was such a bad experience because the food was really good. We left hungry to buy food at the seven eleven because we didn't want to order more food after...

I really had a great time here. Though it wrote vege on the sign, they have both vege and non-vege menu. The sakana tasted really good, and their salad were even better. They used local ingredients and made the best salad I‘d ever had in my life. Some of the dishes had English explanation down below in the menu.

In addition, the lady who served me was really cute and kind. We had a great chat and she gave several helpful recommendations on the courses.

We had a lovely vegetarian meal in this cosy restaurant in Toyama. The husband and wife team were very friendly and accommodating. The food was very fresh, beautifully presented and tasted wonderful. Yu, who kindly spoke with us in much better English than our limited Japanese, took us through all of the ingredients and described how many of the vegetables are grown on her mother-in-law's farm.
