THE YOKOHAMA BAY — Restaurant in Yokohama

Absolutely baffling service.

I’ve travelled extensively and never encountered anything as bizarre, or frankly, as off-putting as the experience at this bar.

Picture this: a pretty much empty bar, 30 mins before closing and the staff insisted my party of 4 couldn’t sit together at a 4 person table. 3 could but not 4.

One of our group then joined and sat down but was asked to stand up and bizarrely had their seat physically taken away by a staff member but allowed the other 3 people in our group to stay seated.

Thinking something may have been lost in translation the 4th guest moved to another empty table to sit alone as he just wanted a beer but then the bar manager did it again - now saying this empty table in an empty bar, 30 mins before closing was 'reserved'. Completely insulting one of our party.

He then demanded our party to all sit at the bar on the uncomfortable bar stools but they were already seated and now they feel insulted and confused. Why couldn't they stay seated at their table.

I would understand if the tables were set for breakfast but they were not. I can only deduce he didn't like the look of one of us.

All we wanted was to unwind with a first beer of the day after a long days drive with friends before going back to our rooms in an otherwise excellent hotel. Instead, we were made to feel unwelcome for no reason. It was so rude and so wierd.

If this bar is affiliated with the hotel, it’s a poor reflection on the brand and they should ensure whoever runs their bar has some basic...

A restaurant that only has a nice view.

The food was ok but the service was so so.

Interestingly my partner and I ordered the same main dish on the menu (wagyu steak), but the display, the thickness of our steaks, the portion of side dish, and how well they were done were quite different. It's like they were cooked by 2 different Chefs.

Won't visit...

行ってきました〜！ 『THE YOKOHAMA BAY（ザ ヨコハマ ベイ）』さんにおじゃましました🌊✨ いただいたのは「ランチコース」！ちょっと贅沢に、ゆったり海を感じながらのランチは最高だったよ☺️

まずは「カプレーゼ」🍅🧀 フレッシュなトマトとモッツァレラの組み合わせに、オリーブオイルの香りがふわっと広がってさっぱり爽やか！ 「オニオンスープ」🥣はじっくり炒められた玉ねぎの甘みがしっかり出ていて、体に染み渡る優しい味わいだったよ〜。 そしてメインの「豚肉のソテー」🐖✨ 外はこんがり香ばしく、中はやわらかジューシー！ソースとの相性も抜群で、食べごたえ大満足だった〜！

お店の魅力はね、横浜らしい開放感のあるロケーションと、おしゃれで落ち着いた空間🌇 ランチでも特別感を味わえるから、デートや記念日にもぴったりなんだ。

I visited “THE YOKOHAMA BAY” for lunch, and it was wonderful! The course started with a refreshing caprese, followed by a rich onion soup full of sweetness. The main dish, pork sauté, was perfectly seared on the outside and tender inside, with a flavorful sauce. The stylish space and relaxing atmosphere made it feel special, perfect for a date or a nice outing in Yokohama.
