For a mid-budget hotel, New Otani inn Yokohama Premium is hard to beat. First pf the location in Sakuragicho is probably the best area to stay in Yokohama. The hotel is a 2min walk from the JR train that goes directly to Tokyo. There are plenty of taxis and buses as well making this a very easy and accessible location. Cannot get more convenient in terms of transportation. It s not overly crowded or complicated to navigate for non-Japanese speakers. Many good food choices and shopping all in the sane building and nearby. Regardless if your traveling alone or with family (young or grown) children this hotel works. The rooms are large enough in the twin bed configuration, bathroom has enough space and shower is tall enough for someone over 180cm or 6ft. Very clean with modern amenities such as usb outlets, smart tv and washlet toilet. There is a small refrigerator that does actually work and keep items cold. Plenty of floor space to be able to open two large suitcases without having to put one on the bed. Of you been to other budget hotels in Japan you will understand how this space is sacred. Decent view of Yokohama on the westside rooms and i assume good views of the harbor on the east side rooms. Windows are nicely insulated so do not hear traffic or train sounds. I did not opt for the breakfast option so no comments on the food. Overall this place cannot be beat for location, cleanliness,...
Read moreThe hotel's strategic location near Sakuragichō Station, which offers direct access via JR train from Narita, is a significant boon. The added convenience of a shopping center within the same building further elevates the overall experience, making it effortless to find everyday necessities. The rooms, meticulously designed with a modern touch and ample space, are a testament to the hotel's unwavering commitment to guest comfort. Equipped with all the necessary amenities, they provide a cozy and convenient stay. The extensive breakfast buffet, thoughtfully prepared to cater to a variety of tastes, ensures a satisfying start to the day. Some aspects can be improved. For instance, I found the check-in and check-out process to be tedious. I arrived at the hotel after a 15-hour journey and requested an early check-in. After asking three times, I was offered the option of moving into a room earlier for an additional charge of around 30 USD per hour. Additionally, when checking out, the room card was taken, which meant I couldn't check out the day before to avoid waiting on the day of departure. Since I booked the hotel through a portal, the hotel didn't want to issue me a payment confirmation. Also, not all front desk staff members understood spoken English well. I'm sorry, but I don't want to deal with said inconvenience on a business trip. Therefore, I will try to find an alternative on...
Read moreThe location of the hotel was perfect! Just across the JR Sakuragicho station, and a short walk from the Minatomira area, the moored Nippon Maru training ship, the Yokohama Cosmoworld amusement park, the Yokohama Cup Noodle Museum and the Yokohama Red brick warehouse district. Walking a bit further takes you to Osambashi and the Yokohama Chinatown.
The hotel's rooms have either Bay views or city views. We stayed at a city view room, where on a sunny day, Mt. Fuji will visible. Unfortunately, it was cloudy while we were there so we didn't get to see Mt. Fuji.
The lobby and the room were gorgeous. The bathroom was large. The room had a large widescreen TV, perfect for relaxing in bed after a long day walking around. The room was also sound-proof, areas around train stations are typically noisy, but I didn't hear anything inside the room.
However, there was no direct way to go to our room directly from outside the hotel. You have to first take an elevator up to the 3rd floor lobby, then take a different elevator...
