There was a 10 mins wait at the door but the kind lady let us in to wait. They specialise in only 3 type of lunch sets; daigo miso, fillet or tempura chicken set, which is a huge positive for me! I ordered the katsu fillet and the tempura chicken! The food was sooo tasty and wholesome! The fillet was delicious and the tempura chicken was so flavourful and tender! We paired the food with the famous yufuin cider and iced oolong tea! I went to the bathroom when she served my set. Despite being very busy, she came back to the table to explain how I can use the different condiments for different dishes of my meal. The service lady was so kind and friendly ! I will most definitely come again if I visit yufuin ! Visiting your restaurant has made my day and the trip so memorable ! Also the shop environment is so cute, you can buy little Japanese tableware! Thank you very much kind lady for your generous...
Read moreFeel like I already rated Kappa Shokudo, but if I haven’t it stands to be said that this is my absolute favorite place to eat in Yufuin. The menu is very simple as it is mainly Tonkatsu, toriten, or donjiru Set meals. But the set meals are the most beautiful things I’ve ever seen, and if you want to get that image of Japanese traditional food this is the place to go. The shop is decorated with collected kimono And the restaurant is owned and operated by one family. There’s also things made from old kimono that you can buy. Kappa Shokudo is the cutest little restaurant situated upstairs from the sake Store, near the cat café. Just go up the cute little wooden staircase and the best toriten you’ve ever eaten in your life is...
Read moreIf you’re looking for a place in Yufuin for a proper filling sit down lunch, this it. The specialty of the area is Toriten don and the Teishoku set comes with another local specialty, dango jiru (dumpling soup). The owners are lovely and everything is freshly made. The とり天定食 at ¥1600 might seem a bit pricey, but the set comes with a lot of food. I had to pack some of the chicken ToGo cuz I couldn’t finish it all.
If you’re looking for some specialty sauce to take home, they also have a Nira soy sauce (which you can try as part of the Toriten teishoku) for ¥700 that’s a specialty of the store. And just downstairs is a soy sauce shop of the areas locally produced soy sauce where I got the recommendation for this...
