We listened to an employee’s explanation about the happy hour and ordered beer, but when we received the bill, the amount was different from what we had been told. When we asked about it, he abruptly stated that this was how the system applied the charge. His attitude was extremely forceful, as if telling us to just accept it. We felt instantly uncomfortable and asked for the manager. He claimed that he was the manager. However, shortly after, the real manager came, apologized, and brought us a corrected bill with the proper discount applied.

The issue was not about the price but the employee’s attitude. We have used Mövenpick hotels worldwide, but we have never been treated like this before. The Mövenpick hotel is fabulous. The atmosphere is magical. That, and the reputation of Mövenpick drew us in.

But, they were understaffed, and as a result the waiter/bartender was stressed and rather unpleasant until we managed to break the ice. They refused to serve us tap water, despite it being safe to drink in Jordan, because ‘it is not in their customs’, and instead gave us two 250mL bottles of water which we had to fight for him to take back and give us a large bottle.

And the food was average, if that. The oil for frying is clearly not changed regularly, and it was generally just barely alright.

Very nice ambiance here but that was it. You have to scan the menu using QR code. They don’t have any physical menu at all. Service was slow and indifferent. Quite the opposite of our interaction with locals. Beer was lukewarm. Lemon juice had maybe 5% lemon juice and 95% ice cubes. I ordered carrots cake and after 10 minutes they informed us that either we waited 30 minutes for the carrot cake or we ordered something else. I ordered cheese cake which was good, not too sweet. My friend had hair in her food. We told the staff and they just picked the plates and left, without apologising at all. All in all very bad performances considering how much they charge...
