Being my first visit, my expectations of the place were pretty high owing to the hype and kind of clietnele that dine here! The ambience was ok and the food was good. However, it was rather disappointing to be given a menu with the disclaimer at the top stating something like the 'meeting area menu prices are higher/different than other seating areas'. When we asked about this, the waitress reluctantly told us that the 'correct' menus were few in number and in use but we should know that the items that we were interested in ordering were actually cheaper. It was also frustrating to have accompaniments that we ordered arrive halfway through our meal. There was also a 'supervisor/cashier' who peered at our table while we were still eating and wrote our bill (erroneously I might add) on a receipt book and proceeded to place it on the table. (this was rather strange as I would have expected the waitress who took the order to follow up on our orders and also do the billing). Also, the seating area we were initially directed to seemed to be either popular or the only available space because some stranger came and attempted to plonk himself on our table without so much as a 'hi!' or 'excuse me, may I join you?'. I would suggest to the owner/manager to develop a better system of accounting etc so that first time customers especially don't get confused about the number of people serving them because you have the order-taker, the 'deliverer', the 'biller' etc. A waiter station where staff can conduct basic duties e.g. wiping cutlery etc might be helpful instead of them using the available Flower pots and in full view of customers. Overall advice to fellow foodies: keep your expectations quite low and you won't be...
Read moreI wanted to try a local restaurant and since i saw many cars and the home cooking name of this place i was thinking the locals know where to get good food. I order meat but they only had fish or chicken, so I order chicken. This was the biggest left down i have had in all my years in Kenya, and visiting a lot of eating places in Nairobi. The chicken must have died of old age. i got three pieces, one was only bone with NO meat, even the other two was more bones than meat. The meat was so tough to get loose from the bones that i almost give up and the few brown meat pisces had no tast. Well the rise and souse was good, and the service too, but to pay 3 times more for his chicken meal than in any normal "fried chicken" places who serve plenty delicious white chicken meat, made me even more disappointed. I had plan to invited friends here since near where I live, but now i can only warn you to stay away. I saw mostly order fish, when i got the chicken meal i...

The common opinion of the reviews that I read before coming, said that the sevice was slow and not very friendly, but the fish is very good. I've heard that in Nairobi, white people are always treated better in restaurants than Kenyans. Perhaps that's why I didn't get the impression to get a bad service. Anyway, The service was nice to me and my 2 kenyan friends and we were served quickly and with attention. However, despite the fact that the fish was good and tasty, it was served too quickly, it was overcooked at my point of view, and you could tell that it was cooked in advance. I prefer to wait the 30\45 minutes to get a freshly cooked fish. But it was good and the ugali and vegetables were great. Next time I go there, I will tell them that I'm not in a hurry and they can take their time. the dammage for 3 well served dishes, 4 smirnoff and 3 Guiness was less than 40$. I can't complain and I...
