Dawn Culinary Sunrise — Restaurant in Nairobi

When they say always listen to your instincts best believe they mean that

I have always passed DAWN and gone ahead to CHATEAU 254 as have always felt the vibe of the employees is not talking to me. At some point I even thought their employer is the problem as the waiters do not have that warm welcoming vibe

So today I gave them a try and have to say I understand why my heart has never felt drawn to them. I ordered a chicken sandwich and plain fries. I asked the waitress if the sandwich comes with fries and she said no. So I ordered the fries as well

To my surprise when the receipt came it indicated truffle fries instead of plain fries. I enquired why truffle fries and was told plain fries and truffle fries is the same. I checked the menu and it said plain fries as 350/- not 650/- for truffle fries

The sad thing is when I went back (my order was to be delivered) as noticed the menu did say 350/- the other lady at the till I tried raising it with since the waitress who served me was talking to a customer said she did not know anything. I asked her if she does not know their menu and she said she did and walked away to avoid me in that-is-not-my-problem demeanor.

She walked back when I followed her with yet another male waiter who now told me that the chicken comes with fries so there was no need to order fries separately. Note I was charged for truffle fries not even plain fries yet I specifically asked for plain fries

I asked the waitress who served me did I not asked for plain fries and she said “it’s the same” yet the Menu clearly shows different

Let us just say I was very disappointed at how that matter was handled. This is not about 650/- or 350/- but at first not being told the truth that chicken sandwich comes with fries, then being billed for truffle fries when I wanted plain fries, then being treated like a nuisance when the waitress was misleading and nonchalant with me for a mistake that was clearly not mine

Based on this alone I am never going back neither do I recommend the place. Spend your money at Chateau 254, the staff there are warmer and own up to their mistakes not trying to play games with the customer to avoid accountability

UPDATE: The Manager got in touch and was very apologetic about the incident and sent over a package. I appreciate this very much he certainly handled the issue waaay better than the waitress who handled me. I will be patronizing the DAWN as the food is certainly very good but I will keep away from this particular waitress else this would have been 5 star on...

I recently had the pleasure of visiting Dawn Culinary with my cousin for their Glamour Night, which takes place every Wednesday evening. The evening was absolutely spectacular!

We indulged in the delectable Lamb fries, that comes in pairs, prepared to perfection by our talented chef, Irshad. Each bite was bursting with flavor and expertly seasoned.
