TATU RESTAURANT — Restaurant in Nairobi

Food was ok, didn’t have much flavour. Service was waaaay too much. Our waiter wouldn’t stop asking us how things are and how the food was. Literally one bite into every course, “how do you like your food?” - would have liked to just be left alone to eat in peace and not have our conversation interrupted.

When we eventually fed back that our mains were overcooked (red snapper - so dry I couldn’t cut into it and tomahawk - asked for it medium rare and it wasn’t, also didn’t need lots of oil and chimichurri on top of an already fatty cut) they didn’t actually compensate us in anyway. What’s the point in asking us for feedback then…?

The meal ended up being £160 for two of us and we only had one cocktail each, 3 starters and a main each. This is extremely expensive for Nairobi and definitely not worth the price.

When we paid, the waiter brought over an iPad to ask us to provide feedback but shortly after and before we filled it in, took it from us and said the waitress...

Can't be more than happy right now cause this place ... is definitely a must go again.

Guys, the food was scrumptious and the service was exceptional.

The plating techniques and the portions size were legit.

Everything about this place made me happy; from the entrance to the ambience of the place, to the cleanliness, the atmosphere being laid back, etc.

I for sure recommend this place to anybody who wants to experience an amazing fine dining...

Service is excellent.

Food is good but a bit too overpriced. I expected to be blown away by the food for that price but it was just decent.

Oysters were a let down, could only taste the batter. Had the ribeye with a side of mashed potatoes and asparagus. Ribeye good, mashed potatoes were flat, needed to be more creamy with a dash of salt and pepper.

Most likely won’t be back because there are many places with better value for money but it was good...
