Mouth Watering Dishes on the Nam Khan River
Having done some research on the meaning of the name of the Resto, it makes me appreciate chatting with the Sardinian owner & enjoying the delectable meal! The name 'Isola dei Nuraghi' means literally 'the island of the Nuraghi'. Sardinia's Nuraghi are the conical stone towers that dot the landscape in key strategic, defensive positions. They were built between 1900 BC and 730 BC. The 7,000 or so surviving Nuraghi have become symbolic of Sardinia and its distinctive culture. The most famous Nuraghe location is the Su Nuraxi di Barumini complex, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1997.
Coincidentally, this Mediterranean eatery is also in a Unesco Heritage Site of Luang Prabang!
Simone the chef, delighted us with a Tagliere Sardegna! A long wooden cutting board loaded with crostini topped grilled mushrooms, bruschetta, marinated peppers, a conch shell filled with squid, deli meats prosciutto, mortadella, pecorino cheese & mozzarella di buffala! What a feast for the eyes! Photos below tell it all!
We followed with generous portions of squid ink fettuccini with Tasty tuna ,capers, olives tomato ragù & a dish of Spaghetti alla Norma with eggplant sauce!
Highly recommend a visit to the Riverside location on the Serene Nam Khan River! Selection of wines, pizzas, starters!
Grazie Simone for treating us to some traditional Italian fare! The Lao Lao, a local Whiskey definitely helped with digestion!

Read moreAfter a few months of travelling trough Asia I came to Laos, and as you can imagine I was sort of done with the noodles and rice. In all those months of travelling I tried Western food every now and then, but I was always dissapointed by the bad quality. So when I came across this restaurant and saw that there was a Italian guy that runned the restaurant, I became enthusiastic. I went there for dinner, and boy was it AMAZING! It's Italian food at it's best. Real Italian ingredients, al dente pasta, home made pizza dough with sauce that actually tastes like Tuscan tomatoes, delicious toppings and stunning (and tasteful) desserts. It reminded me of my mom's Italian food, and when food reminds you of home.. It's good. I'd recommend this place to anyone. Enjoy it & buon appetito!
To the people that said that it was average and overpriced: have you even tried proper Italian food in life? Do you know how much effort and money it costs to get proper Italian ingredients and herbs to Laos? Shame on you for rating a hard working man's business with 1 or 2 stars. This place deserves...
Read moreWe had a fantastic experience at L'isola dei Nuraghi Riverview! The location was easy to find, and the ambience was beautifully done up. Without a doubt, it was the best pizza we've ever had—delicious and beautifully presented. We also enjoyed a delightful spaghetti dish and a mixed cheese platter, both of which were incredibly tasty and elegantly decorated. You can really tell that the chef takes pride in feeding his customers.
A special shoutout to the lovely lady boss, who surprised us with a delightful ice cream treat! It was such a thoughtful gesture that made our visit even more memorable.
We will definitely be back if we find ourselves in Luang Prabang again!
Thank you for a wonderful dining experience!
