Most beautiful Wat I visited in Luang Prabang. I visited near sunset and was treated to gorgeous light reflecting off the well maintained golden details of the wat. A little off the tourist path, so you will have the chance to explore it without company.

It’s a little out of the way for those staying downtown but is definitely worth a visit. I particularly enjoyed the bright and colorful wall paintings, one of the unique things about this temple. There were no admission fees during my visit.

Wat Manorom This vat dates back to the 14th century, but was rebuilt in concrete in the early 20th century. It has an impressive sitting Buddha in bronze dating from 1372. The statue 6 meters high weighs nearly 3 tons making it the heaviest statue in Laos.

A cat family lives here, the monks seemed like them very much. There is no entrance fee, at least at night.
