PIGA in Old Riga was hands down one of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had — not just in Latvia but anywhere in Europe wherever I traveled.
I ordered food for family of 4, good few things from the Menu and ended up paying decent amount of bill. What happened is, a burger which I didn’t notice, had bacon in it and the moment I realized, I kindly asked if i can get another one without Bacon, which any sensible restaurant would do understand. The chef flat-out refused without even pretending to care. I then asked the guy at the till — same robotic, indifferent response, as if customer service doesn’t exist in this place.
I ended up paying €7 for something I didn’t even get as I leave that with chef and politely said, you can eat it. Not a single person even tried to help or apologize. No empathy. No solutions. Just cold, careless service that made it clear they couldn’t care less about their customers.
This wasn’t just bad service — it was borderline hostile. I’ve never felt so dismissed or disrespected in any restaurant across the EU. If you value decency, avoid this place like the plague.

PIGA is a great place to hang out, especially if you’re with a big group. They have a really pretty courtyard with plenty of seating, making it perfect for gatherings with friends. I went there on a Monday, which is hotdog discount day, they go for just €1.29 each.
The hotdogs are smaller than regular ones, more like a snack size, but I had four and felt full. They’re served in soft brioche buns and come in about 13 different flavors, each with a unique twist. Super tasty and fun to try a few different ones in one visit.
Definitely recommend this place for a relaxed evening with friends, beer, and some...
Read moreMajor skip for anyone over 25 if you are looking for the gastro part in this gastrobar. The food is all low quality, deep fried in same burnt oil. Chicken salad was literally bag lettuce with chicken nugget bits and bland tomato. Two people from my group got the runs afterward. Bartender doesnt speak (or if he does, not loud enough to hear over the blaring hits from 5 years ago) Basically a rural low quality bistro dressed in a neon prom dress. Maybe if marketing budget was redirected into the quality of food, this place would be cool enough for word of mouth to do it's...
