Updated response to the manager: no one apologised to us at all, not a single sorry. So either your staff are lying to you or you are lying to your customers. Waiter's attitude was appalling and he made us feel like we're making a fuss over nothing. I have revised my rating as your response is inaccurate and/or dishonest.
This review is to draw attention of restaurant's managers as you should make sure your staff is trained about allergens and advise they should give to the customers. As soon as we entered the restaurant, we enquired if they are able to advise regarding which meals contain gluten. We were assured that that is not a problem. When ordering the meals I asked the waiter to check again and told him that my husband has a coeliacs disease therefore can't have gluten. He checked with the kitchen and advised what would be gluten free. When the meal arrived, it was served on a flat bread (!!!) and as later we found out, potatoes contained gluten as well. If we had not noticed the bread, or if the bread wasn't there - my husband would have gotten poisoned by eating the potatoes. It appears that the waiter had not been given any proper training and/or had no common sense. The situation was resolved but no one apologised even though I had repeatedly checked if the meal is gluten free. I can't emphasise this enough - you must ensure you understand what allergens are or don't provide any advise so the customers can find another restaurant where they can eat safely. Most customers where foreign nationalities and as allergies are getting more and more common - you will get yourself into trouble. Just to clarify, the communication happened in Lithuanian, so it's not like you can blame it on miscommunication... Food was ok/average but we would never return as my husband gets very ill if he gets glutened, so we would never want to...
Read moreOn a sunny Kaunas afternoon, we picked this restaurant because my gf insisted on trying because she heard nice things about this place. We wanted lamb shish and ali nazik but we were told not possible because lamb is still marinating at 4 pm . I think marination should be done before restaurant is open. So we had to get lahmacun, döner and chicken sarma beyti. Lahmacun was average and döner and chicken beyti were so below average they could well be the worst food I ever had in recent years because I tend to look at google points before I go to a restaurant. On an interesting note, this restaurant seems to have high points on google reviews which mislead us. Service was also not good, despite several people around no one was interested in the tables and we had to search for someone to get fork and knifes. Overall it was a terrible experience and I don’t think I will be returning. Also, even if the food were nice prices were expensive and considering food were not good , it...
Read moreSarma lamb Beyti 10/10, Iskender 7/10. Lahmacun 9/10. The complimentary appetizers served beforehand were perfect gesture. We loved the desserts and the coffee after the food. The food was absolutely delicious, especially sarma beyti with rich lamb flavor and great presentation. Iskender was tasting too much tomato sauce rather than butter, and iskender without yaprak döner doesn't give the same feeling in Turkiye.
The staff were very friendly, attentive and made us feel welcome. Table service was smooth and professional.
The ambiance was lovely and authentic at the same time. It has an interior design unmatched in Kaunas usual restaurants. Atmosphere that perfectly reflects Turkish culture. The ambiance and Beyti are worth the trip from Vilnius.
Highly recommended for both casual visits and...
