On Wednesday, August 13th, during our holiday trip through Lithuania, we decided to take a well-deserved coffee break in Vilnius after a morning walk through the city center. Our feet were already a bit tired, and we were thirsty. We remembered Café Montmartre, which we had seen featured in one of the travel videos we watched before the trip. The place looked charming and promised a pleasant break.
We sat down at one of the six outdoor tables the café offers and were looking forward to a moment of rest. Situated on a street corner, the café looks inviting from the outside, with its classic architecture and red awnings that give it a Parisian touch. Surrounded by historic buildings and cobblestone streets, it really seemed like the perfect spot.
Unfortunately, the first impression quickly faded. Despite there being at least two waitresses serving just six outdoor tables and a few inside, we felt completely invisible. They walked past us several times without even acknowledging our presence. Feeling ignored as a guest is never pleasant and instantly spoils the atmosphere.
When one of the waitresses finally noticed us, the disappointment continued. Without any greeting or smile, she literally tossed a menu onto our table. She didn’t even ask if we’d like something to drink — which is usually the very minimum. To make matters worse, the menu only listed lunch dishes, even though we came hoping for coffee and something sweet.
This kind of treatment was simply unacceptable. We felt like we were a nuisance rather than welcome guests, which convinced us not to spend our money there. My wife and I just looked at each other, silently agreed, and left without ordering anything.
The staff’s behavior was completely at odds with what one would expect from a place with a 4.3 rating on Google Maps. Arrogance and total disregard for customers can ruin even the best setting. Café Montmartre turned out to be one of only two dining disappointments on our otherwise wonderful trip through Lithuania.
Based on this experience, I cannot recommend Café Montmartre. While the café may look appealing at first glance, the attitude of the staff was so off-putting that it ruined the mood entirely and forced us to look elsewhere. A real shame — behavior like this damages not only the café’s reputation but also the impression of Vilnius’s food...

Read moreWe've stopped here several times for brunch and lunch, and it NEVER disappointed. I'm a big Francophile, so I can be a little biased when it comes to reviewing French based spots. BUT, with that being said, everything here is still phenomenal.
I got the Croque Monsieur with a side of fries during my first visit. The sandwich and fries were so delicious. My iced coffee and freshly squeezed orange juice were delicious too! My second visit, I got an Eggs Benedict and a side salad, this time with a Mimosa. I decided to top it off with a desert- a waffle with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top (I can't remember the exact name of the item). So good. Everything was phenomenal.
There's not a whole lot of seating inside, but I recommend you sit outside as you get to truly enjoy that outside European dining experience. The atmosphere inside is pretty though.
If I ever go back to Lithuania, I will definitely come back to Café Montmartre. A truly Vilnius...
