On my recent trip through the Baltics, I was excited to see Vilnius. It's a beautiful city! I was excited for my booking to stay at the highly recommended Grybas House. Upon arrival, I was met by a sweet young woman, and then told my room was on the third floor. I looked and she almost felt sorry for me. No lift, steep wood stairs, 3 big flights, and I almost passed out by dragging my luggage up there by myself. It's not easy!!!||||Once in my room, I was a bit dismayed by the furnishings. There's a separate "living/seating space" with 3 love seats. The cushions looked like they were brought in from outside. Dirty and grey, and not welcoming at all.||I tried to give the Grybas House the benefit of the doubt, but, the light fixtures were college dorm leftovers and the bed was ok. Nice bathroom, no view, since on the third floor you have sky lights, which had poorly closing shades and you really couldn't open, due to threat of rain. It was very stuffy in the room.||||I know it wasn't expensive, so perhaps it was a bit no frills. I had an old fan that blew "backwards".||Breakfast was minimal. Nothing cooked. Bread, cold cuts and yogurt and cereal, all in the basement bar.||I felt the manager who arrived later in the day was stone cold, and not very helpful.||Overall, I would have tried another nearby hotel and not rave about the Grybas House.im a pretty savvy traveler and went by great reviews from other travelers, but I kept thinking, maybe they had better rooms??|| I Loved Vilnius!!! But I don't recommend Grybas House. It needs a...
Read moreI am a world traveller, I've stayed in 45 countries to date for business and pleasure. I'm a bit fussy where hotels are concerned. I HIGHLY recommend the Grybas House Hotel. It's small, only 6 rooms but don't let that put you off. It's perfectly located in the Old Town of Vilnius, close to the Gate of Dawn, walking distance to the main train station (but far enough away as the station area is the only scruffy part of the city),and although in a central location, it's located in a very quiet, small mews off the main street. The staff are very helpful and speak good English, English is not widely spoken in Vilnius. The rooms are good, large with a fridge, good heating, nice bathrooms. In conclusion, just stay in this hotel, it's good value and really nice! Oh and a nice...
Read moreIt is a hotel in an amazing location, bang on in the old town. It is tucked away from the street, so very quiet.||I would definitely return.||The room was clean, towels were a bit old however for the price of the room I could not grumble. The bathroom was big with heated floors, big shower, so all very good.||I was a solo woman travelling and asked for a double bed. On arrival I found two single beds in my room, however as everything else was nice and room and spacious and sunny I did not pursue the double bed issue.||The staff were lovely. Very helpful and friendly. ||Breakfast was a small selection, however the coffee pot was nice and the staff indicated that they will get more food...
