La Pepa in Vilnius is a Spanish restaurant that truly stands out, thanks to its star dishes – the succulent steaks and the delightful Dorada fish. The moment you step in, the warm and inviting atmosphere envelops you, making you feel right at home, especially with the personal touch as there are no employed service staff.
Chef Pedro is a culinary wizard who takes care of everything, and his expertise shines through in the mouthwatering steaks and perfectly cooked Dorada fish. The steaks are juicy and tender, with just the right amount of seasoning, making each bite a true delight. Read moreUnfortunately, La Pepa in Vilnius was a kind of disappointment. I came with the intention of enjoying a brunch around 1 PM, but at that time only the lunch menu was available and it came at a steep price of 25 euros for a set menu. I was expecting something truly special, but sadly, that wasn’t the case.
The lunch consisted of three courses, none of which were particularly impressive. First, we were served a “tomato salad”, which turned out to be just a plate of sliced tomatoes with a bit of olive oil and seasoning. The taste was fine, but it lacked any real creativity – something you could easily throw together at home in a few minutes.
The main course was cannelloni, unfortunately bland and lacking any depth of flavor. The filling was unremarkable, the sauce barely noticeable, and the whole dish felt like it had been made without much care or inspiration.
Dessert was a chocolate croissant, which was reasonably fresh but completely unmemorable – the kind of pastry you could pick up at any average bakery. It hardly felt like a satisfying end to a three-course meal at that price point.
To make matters worse, the wait time between courses was quite long, which, combined with the underwhelming food, left me feeling like both my time and money had been wasted.
The only real highlight was the staff: they were genuinely friendly and professional, and that helped soften the overall disappointment just a bit. However, I definitely won’t be returning for this type of lunch experience. The price simply doesn’t match the quality either in taste or in the...
Read moreUpdate: after I left my review the owner found my number on his WhatsApp from the time he send me a menu and send me print screens from other reviewers saying his food is good. Very creepy and invasive. Suggest to think twice prior giving your number so the owner can send you the menu so you can order while at the place.
So this weird experience. We tried to get into this restaurant few times and it was either not working or fully booked (tho we didn’t see people in the restaurant). I am not thrilled by the fact that same person is a chef, waitress and a cleaner. The menu was sent to use via WhatsApp message, that was not comfortable. There was only 4 dishes we could order on the spot but it was light salad or tapas and only one proper meal - cannelloni. The service was ok, the guy did put an effort to make us feel good. I don’t think prices are adequate for the food portions and quality delivered. Simple roasted onion costs 12.5 eur, grilled green asparagus 15.90 eur and cannelloni 26.50 eur. Tasting menu is 60 eur per person. You can evaluate yourself if that is rational. Dishes are not big and taste wise was ok but not mind blowing. Moreover, looking into the Google Reviews and seeing that owner is very defensive and is not willing to accept feedback and criticism, it gives a feeling that this is not as good place. Really cannot comprehend how come it has such high review! I would not come back, it’s not my type of place. However have to say that the place has a potential but some serious improvements are...
