Honestly, this place gives a lot of mixed feelings. I'm not even sure where to start. Lets start with the interior, it is fairly unusual, lots of references to Nikola Tesla, photos, wall drawings, a plasma ball, books, gave a nice unique touch to the place. Since there are so many small details all around the place, most of them aren't really looked after too much, some things had layers of dust, some over touched things were greasy, but the seating area and the tables were nice and clean. The beer selection is rather large, but most of it was bottled, many keg beers were unavailable. Which sort of gave the impression that establishment is struggling with customers, in which case economically it is logical to keep bottled beer since keg beer can go bad + the pump system must be cleaned constantly. Next thing I noticed is that there was only one lady at the bar, which did both the bartending and the food serving. We came at day time so this wasn't an issue, but if you would come here in the evening there is a big chance you will have to wait a long time for food. Also I kept overhearing the lady arguing with the cook frequently. Even though this is a pub, we mainly came here to try the burgers and the snacks. Beer is beer, most pubs have a similar selection, so it is not a merit unless the selection is really bad. The food was sort of good. That is because I have to judge this place as a PUB first, and as a food establishment later. For a pub, the food here is actually great! There are still pubs out there where the best snacks you can get are over greasy fried bread and some stale peanuts. So by PUB standards, the food is good. The wings were nicely cooked, juicy, covered in some sort of BBQ glaze. The cheese and onions mostly the same as everywhere else. The sauce was weird, they definitely tried to make a healthier and less fat version of a sauce, I kinda liked it, but I think not everyone will. The burgers were actually nice, cooked as I specified. The meat was fresh. All in all not bad. Now if I were to judge this as a burger place (which this is not specifically), I would probably give it a solid 3 stars. The burger buns were too soggy, the homemade mayo or what ever it was a bit overpowering, the bacon wasn't rendered equally and while parts of it were crispy, other resembled a soggy grease sponge. All together this made and average classic burger which I enjoyed at the moment, but would probably not want to try again.
Would I recommend this place? Maybe I enjoyed that this place was a bit to the side from the main tourist paths, so it was a bit quieter, the music was definitely too my liking. So if you want to pass a few pints with your friends and talk about better days, this is a good place for that (at least during the day it seemed so). Now if you are just hungry and looking for a place to eat? well there better options nearby in the same...
Read moreSurprisingly cozy place for quick beer and a burger. Variety of tap beers is quite low, but the options available are good enough even for exquisite tastes. Burgers sadly were made well-done even though medium rare was asked which kinda ruined the experience. Other than that ingredients seemed fresh and match quite well. Spicy cheese balls were great, but fried bread was way overcooked. Probably will give this place another try because I can see...
Read moreAverage food and average coctails. Don't expect to get dizzy after one drink and don't even bother telling how you want your burger. The kitchen obviously doesn't know the difference between medium and medium rare. The decorations are also very poor and quite confusing, a few pictures of tesla, a few steampunk details, and random german mugs. The bartender was friendly though. All in all, do...
