A great place for traditional style breakfast! Staffs were friendly and service was quick. The place is clean with a few seating inside and out (The restaurant is partially open but not hot).
Heres what we recommend: MARUDI KUEY TIAO. Very thick cut noodles cooked exactly like kuey tiao. Slightly sweet and very savory with some wok hei. Portion is good for the price.
HOR KA SAI. A traditional style mocha (mixture of olden style coffee and Milo). The ratio of coffee to Milo is perfect! Coffee was perfectly kaw and overall not too sweet either.
HALF BOILED EGGS. Interestingly served in an egg boiler, so you gotta wait for your eggs to cook. My first time seeing one so I was amazed, felt quite old school somehow too. To know if your half boiled eggs are done, is when all the hot water has drained.
TOAST. Thick cuts of nicely toasted sandwiches with plenty of filling without it being too bready. We had the kaya butter toast and ham cheese toast. Pretty decent toasts.
TRADITIONAL KUIHS. They also serve some traditional pastries and cakes on the display next to the counter. On the day we dined, they had Portuguese egg tarts, angku kuih and kuih salat. Overall pretty standard kuihs.
We really enjoyed our breakfast here. Will definitely be coming back to try...
Read moreThis is my second time visit here after 2 weeks of first visit. Their service still in the mess and this time their service is even worse than before [VERY VERY VERY TERRIBLE]!
First of all, we saw many people queueing outside and the staff don’t even bother to talk to them. Until there’s one Miri Influencer come and queue, the staff from the counter purposely come out and talk to them 🤷🏾♂️ They don’t treat people equally. 🙅🏾♂️
Secondly, we have waited our half boiled egg and drinks for like 30 minutes under the conditions of keep asking where’s our drinks and egg! If we never ask will the things come after hour? Please fix your service system
Thirdly, their food is not consistent. During our first visit, the food was still ok. But this time, it’s worse than before. Steam bread first visit: fluffy, still can taste the flavor second visit: soggy, no taste Kuih first visit: nice & special second visit: rice hard, the taste is not as nice as the first visit (I was so looking forward to eat their kuih again after first visit but this time really disappointed)
I hope they can improve their service and maintain or even improve the food quality like the first time I visited. You charge this price and please deliver the quality as it...
Read moreBack to Ban Hup after a few years back since its opening. That time the sambal mee or mihun was partly flavoured and partly tasteless. I excuses it as a newly open shop with short of manpower and the shop was overwhelmed by customers. Today I ordered soft boiled eggs, which were served with most of the hot water drained and yet the egg was still raw. Asked the waitress to pour in more hot water to make the egg cooked longer and the waitress could not understand BM well. Only a little bit of hot water was added into the egg cooking container. Still, after waiting for the water to finish draining, the egg was still quite raw. The other food were overpriced and tasted just average to my liking. Fried mani vege with mihun tasted of raw garlic. Disappointed that simple dishes did not even taste good, what more to say, other food...
