We were going to Mulu National Park, and due to flight timings had to stopover in Miri. We were 3 girls and looking for a safe place to stay. On first glance, the exterior of Hotel Nur looks just like a motel, but we were very pleased with the furnishings of our room. We booked a family deluxe and the room was big and spacious for the 3 of us, and a nice toilet and shower ensuite. The breakfast was good too, it was a la carte. there were 3 choices, local fare (ie fried noodles/rice), omelete, or Western.||||It is walking distance to Imperial shopping mall, you would not miss the mall as once you exit the hotel you can see the Imperial shopping mall and can walk there without getting lost. The hotel staff was very friendly and also recommended a chinese restaurant within walking distance where there was cheap and good seafood. There were many other shops and mini marts around, so everything was convenient to access. The hotel also recommended in their hotel brochure a kueh lapis shop and we bought kueh lapis home as souvenirs.||||The negatives: 1. We had actually chose Hotel Nur as reviews had said the wifi was good, however the wifi was not working in the room on the day we stayed. The hotel staff said we had to go to lobby if we need wifi, and even there the wifi was intermittent. 2. Another disappointment was when I asked if the hotel could recommend a clean spa for massage, they couldnt give any. Typically travellers look for eating, shopping and massage, and hotel staff should be able to recommend these 3 activities. We saw a few spa very nearby but as we were unsure if they were clean places, we...
Read moreLet's comment positively first; the room is okay. The location is great, near shopping areas. Great value. Negative feedback: I gave 1 star because of the poor manners from the front office, named "Girry." From the moment we entered the hotel, there were no greetings, and he looked like we were annoying guests. The way he handed back the passport and the way he responded to us—even my husband and I were being nice. It is not about what you say; it is about how you say it. I'm working in the hotel industry. I know the common etiquette, with or without training. If you aren't happy with your job or position, just quit. There are a lot of young people who fit that job, or maybe you had a bad day, have family problems, or also leave at home your personal issues. Whatever your reason, it is not acceptable in the hospitality industry, whether a small or big organization. Remember receptionists are the image of the hotel. Hire wisely. Photos online is not updated, do not trust agoda or the website anymore. WiFi terrible. Couldn't connect so we are using data. Toilet bowl sounds are irritating. The water is bubbling like the sheyttt is coming out every 30 minutes. Weird. Room smelled odd. No dim lights. Too noisy from another room; the kids are shouting (understandable). I would never...
Read moreThis hotel located in quite strategic location yet peaceful surrounding less street noise. Ample public parking park (get assistant from the hotel). The hotel does have their own cafe but have not tried the food as you can find local malay/chinese restaurant, KFC, Miri Open Air Market, all within 5-10mins walk.
The room is well tidy, clean, filled with essential amenities such soap, shampoo, cotton bud as well as bottle of mineral water, Electric Kettle. Bed is comfy, light is decent however i do recommend you all to get the window view for some natural light & little fresh air. The room also do smell nice, TV channel is clear but less channel to choose, water pressure is also good & the air-cond working cold as well as WIFI in room.
The reception is friendly, check in/out is quite a breeze. I do recommend this hotel for business traveler, or even family stay.
Value for money! Clean...
