Nice gula apong ice cream. The ice cream is not with much milk, more with water (that's why melt very fast). Not too sweet. We ordered the small cup type. RM2.20 each with one free topping (4 to choose from). The big cup drinks are priced really good. Worth.
The order is with numbering system. So after you placed your order, you need to wait for the machine to call your number then you may collect your purchased items.
Revised my rating to two stars due to an unpleasant second visit at night. First, there were lots of lizards on the wall. Total of 9. When walking away from the stall after the ice cream was collected (three steps away), a flying bug flew and stuck to the ice cream. We went back and said wanna change, the lady immediately gave us a very black face and said the flying bugs are not controlled by them 😅😅😅 she still replaced a new cup but she told the worker not to put too much toppings. Err... She could have advised customers to close the cup in this situation. And not blaming on the customer or saying they cant control the bugs... oh ya, the cup is not filled fully, it's empty with a hole inside actually. Perhaps this is the trick used to maximize the profit. Anyway, second visit...
Read moreIG Gula Apong Ice Cream, situated along the bustling waterfront, has become an iconic dessert destination in Kuching. This sweet spot is famous for its delicious Gula Apong ice cream, which has garnered quite a following.
One thing to note about this place is that it can get incredibly crowded, especially after 5 pm when locals return from work. The long queues are a testament to the dessert's popularity.
The star of the show here is undoubtedly the Gula Apong ice cream. It's served in either a cone or cup, with the latter being my preferred choice for its ease of handling and hygiene. What makes this treat extra special are the toppings, and I have a soft spot for the combination of peanuts and Oreo, which adds a delightful crunch and flavor.
It's worth mentioning that the ice cream is incredibly sweet, so be prepared to quench your thirst with plenty of water.
Considering the taste and quality, the prices are quite affordable and reasonable.
Overall, IG Gula Apong Ice Cream is a must-visit for anyone with a sweet tooth, offering a delightful taste of local flavors in a picturesque waterfront setting. Just be prepared for the crowds, especially during the...
Read moreHeard so much about Gula Apong but never tried before and finally have the chance to try it in Kuching. Was walking along the waterfront and spotted this shop with the bright lights. Later I realized that this shop seems to have branches around Kuching and though this place is just like a takeaway kiosk, there is actually a physical shop a few meters down the same row of shophouse if you like to sit down and enjoy the ice cream. There isn't much to choose from, just the ice cream or ice cream with milk tea. I ordered the former as just wanted to try the original taste of the Gula Apong. I thought Sarawakian food flavours are more on the milder side but this really has the kick. I think its just normal vanilla ice cream with brown sugar and this is such a nicer combination. There was only one size large and it was pretty big which took me quite a while to finish. Overall quite decent and enjoyable. Not sure how authentic or if there are better ones around cause I only tried once during the entire trip. Worth a try if you happen to be strolling along the waterfront or if you happen to come across any of the...
