This is the first time I have eaten in this Imperial Seafood Restaurant. Compared to Welcome Seafood Restaurant, my experience is that overall, this seafood restaurant is better.
The seafood here is fresh. They are displayed in their aquariums. Patrons get to choose which seafood they want and this is what the restaurant prepares.
My biggest surprise was with the lobster dish we ordered. The restaurant had removed most of the meat from the shell so that we would not have the trouble of extracting the meat ourselves. After we had finished eating the lobster meat, they came to take away the dish with the lobster shell on it. That was when they explained that there still was some remaining meat inside the shell and the restaurant was now taking back this shell to prepare a noodles dish. The remaining meat in the lobster shell was then extracted from the shell and added to the noodles dish.
Well, I was surprised by their honesty regarding the remaining lobster meat inside the shell.
Coupled with their friendly and obliging staff, I believe that I would give this restaurant a better score than their neighbouring Welcome Seafood Restaurant.
Am hoping that Imperial Seafood Restaurant will maintain its standard.
However, do be aware. Nothing is free in this World. And this restaurant is pricey - very pricey. Their cheapest fish grouper dish will set you back RM 120 per kg (a fish which is bought in the market for about RM 30 per kg). My opinion is that I will willingly pay a high price if not just the food and service are top notch but the dining environment has to also match. This Imperial Seafood Restaurant however does not have the classy environment to match the high prices...
Read moreHad a satisfying meal at Imperial Seafood Restaurant, where we enjoyed a variety of seafood dishes, all well-prepared and reasonably priced for the quality and freshness.
We had:
Steamed garlic lobster – tender and fragrant
Fried butter lobster – rich and savoury with a golden crust
Spicy kam heong (甘香) cockles – full of bold, aromatic flavours
Poached (白灼) tiger prawns – sweet and succulent, cooked just right to retain their natural taste
Deep-fried grouper with Thai chilli sauce – crispy on the outside, moist inside, topped with a tangy and spicy sauce
Seafood fried rice – flavourful and generously packed with seafood
Every dish was delicious and served promptly. A great place to enjoy local-style seafood without breaking the bank. Highly...
Read moreSeafood selection and cooking of the food was really really good. Unfortunately we could not call to get a booking so we had to take away but Mr. Toh took our order and pushed the kitchen in around 15-20mins. Food was wrapped up and was still yummy after the short walk back to the hotel.
Kam heong lala (800g @$32/kg) Ginger & spring onion white clams (800g @$38/kg) Steamed wild grouper w soya sauce (600g @$120/kg Sambal Sabah veggies
Spent just under rm$150 on the above
Tried to book but failed to get through using the numbers online. (-1 Star) so here's a photo of the business card (circa Sep-2022).
IMHO - Much better than Welcome Seafood in terms of value, selection and cooking. Would return but it was our last dinner before...
