Went there during the Christmas Celebration from 13th Dec 2022 until 16th Dec 2022.

The area is quite spacious and comfortable, but if you were to visit during times when there are events held, looking for parking really is a problem.

The closest alternative other than parking near the padang, there's an open parking space near gaya street on the otherside of the road. Its a short walk to the padang, only qround 3 mins if theres not much wait on the traffic. Better park there than getting a ticket from DBKK.

Other than that, there's not much seating available, like benches and such. So for older citizens, getting a short rest might be quite difficult. The only available area to sit is probably at the side of the big flower pots...

The square once became the site for sporting event during British North Borneo Crown period. Before the Jesselton Community Hall was built in the 1950s, the square is not just used as a football field, but also became a parade site especially before the construction of Kota Kinabalu Sports Complex. On 16 September 1963, the late Chief Minister Donald Stephens declared the formation of the Federation of Malaysia at the site. Since then, the square is only used for small ceremonies. In 2015, the square was closed for several months for renovation works. On 23 February 2018, it is one of 24 heritage sites in the state that were gazetted by Sabah’s State Heritage Council under new enactment of "State Heritage...

As the name suggest, here is the place where the first Sabah CM proclaim to the rakyat of Sabah in 1963 when Sabah join and become one of the partner forming the Federation of Malaysia. The field is surrounded with lush green rain trees giving shades during hot days. The place is being used for holding annual community events like KK Christmas festival for example. Nearest hotel is the Dreamtel Hotel facing the padang. The bus terminal going to the Keningau, Tenom, Beaufort, Ranau or Kudat is located nearby. Good place to visit when there is a festival going on.

a rather small historical field with a covered terraced seating area but not exactly a tourist attraction. next to Jalan Istana - the road going to Istana TYT Yang di-Pertua Negeri of Sabah. sufficient parking on the street but limited lots in the compound. not a suitable place to jog/walk as the is no dedicated track
