📍Ling Dang Private Kitchen, Kuching (铃铛私厨) A true HIDDEN GEM - that's the most befitting definition I can give this restaurant! It's so hidden that it's so DIFFICULT to even find on GOOGLE.
🍜This was one of the most authentic China-based cuisine I've had in Kuching. And it was DELICIOUS. The owner is a lady from China, and she happens to be the chef.
🐟The SUPER HIGHLIGHT was the Grilled Fish with Mala-based Soup. -Fresh ingredients like tofu and mushroom are prepared at the side, with a strong fire that lasted almost throughout the entire meal. -Super tasty, with a 'Siakap' fish that was fresh -The soup was INCREDIBLE. The experience was superb. Really spicy and rich broth. -It costs Rm 128 for that set, and it was entirely WORTH it.
It's so authentically China-based that even the tea was from flowers I've never tried before. The other dishes involving beef and vegetables like Manichai were okay.
Located at 263 Jalan Sungai Padungan (opposite CCK Fresh Mart), I suggest giving a call before coming to check for availability. The number provided in Google is +60128036662.
🤚Also, come expecting to be patient. There are quite a number of regular patrons, and it is a relatively small shop. With little man-power, it could take at least half an hour or more for the cuisine to be prepared. But it is...
Read moreA hidden gem with amazing flavours from Hunan. Every dish looks simple but tastes flavourful as they each have complex flavours. Personal favourite dish is the pickled fish soup where they used dory fish. The soup is sour with a slight saltiness and it eliminates the fishy flavour. For a non-fish fan/eater, this pickled fish soup will convince you to like fish.
The steamed chicken with a sweet & mala sauce is also flavourful. The mala sauce is barely present and it is not that spicy. It has a good balance of sweet, savoury and spicy.
The potato floss has a slight tangy flavour and it’s very refreshing and light. The okra dish is the simplest dish of all but it is also well flavoured with simple sauce, chillies and garlic. The pot of tea is very hot and fragrant with tons of flowers, dates and...

I have ever lived in China. Therefore, I can't get the real Chinese kind of "kick". Please excuse me for that.. maybe is me only. The local in Kuching may not be able to accept that kind of taste. There are reasons for it.. I am sure.
My spouse has never been to Hunan. She is a true blue kuching person. She is happy with what she had.
It does give one's a feel of Hunan's food. Maybe for a local, it is good enough to have a taste of Hunan's delicacies..
Overall, the service of personnel to the food, is as per normal expectations from a restaurant.
The serving is larger than our usual Kuching's restaurant serving 👍
Well, keep...
