One of the few places in Kuching where the Sarawak Laksa is truly authentic. The full-bodied and well balanced broth brings out the symphony of spices that make this dish a true delicacy. The coriander here serves as the crown on the head of this king of laksas in Kuching.
The prawns are fresh and here they do a Laksa Pattaya, where your bowl of noodles is enveloped in a light fluffy omelette. At 126 Laksa, they've included the option to have a variety of proteins in your laksa ranging from chicken feet to abalone. Whilst this reviewer prefers the authentic with only prawns in the laksa, this could appeal to others well. Fun fact: The laksa recipe here is so good, that they've manufactured laksa pastes for the broth to be sold in supermarkets now.
Beyond the fulfilling Sarawak Laksa, they have a range of other offerings that get their fair share of orders in this family-friendly 'kopitiam'. The kolok mee was excellent with flavor locked into the garlic oil and rounded up with minced chicken meat making for a decadent but light meal. Also one of the more affordable mee koloks in Kuching now at RM3.00 as at time of writing.
The cherry on top of this beautiful breakfast cake presented by 126 Laksa is the coffee. The iced coffee was presented with a nice head of milky froth that leads you into the thick syrupy goodness that only unpretentious coffee can provide.
126 Laksa is a must try for a great breakfast experience in Kuching. This kopitiam is great for a Sunday morning where you can watch the comings and goings on Kuching River as it flows lazily with the gentle call to prayers from the nearby mosque. Absolutely...

I recently revisited Laksa126 in Kuching, Sarawak, one of the more popular laksa spots in town. As a returning customer, I had high expectations based on my previous visits. Unfortunately, this experience was deeply disappointing.
I ordered a medium laksa, special laksa, and Pattaya laksa during peak hours. While the place was understandably busy with customers, the utensil hygiene was unacceptable. My bowl was in poor condition — clearly worn out, with visible mold. I noticed that other tables were served with similarly old and stained bowls, which raises serious concerns about cleanliness and food safety.
Additionally, the broth quality has dropped — it tasted diluted and lacked the rich, flavorful depth it used to have. The portion sizes were noticeably smaller, making it feel like poor value for the price charged.
I made a complaint on the spot, but the staff seemed unconcerned and dismissive, likely because they are confident in their consistent stream of customers. This kind of complacency is very disappointing for loyal patrons like myself.
Laksa126 has great potential and a strong reputation, but if hygiene, food quality, and customer service continue to decline, it will eventually lose the trust and loyalty of...
Read moreFood court type establishment located off the main road at back of shop house place, which actually is facing the Sarawak river but has not been capitalized on. There are quite a lot of choices of food available here, with the famous one being the Sarawak laksa. To order the laksa and drinks, one has to queue , order and pay at the counter. But I was extremely surprised how efficient and fast their order, preparation and delivery to the table was, despite the long queue. They must have seasoned and organized themselves to cope with the crowds. The Pattaya Laksa is famous here, but I personally would think it is more of a gimmick and to pay that much more for a thin slice of fried egg in one's laksa. Anyway everyone is entitled to enjoy one's laksa in the way that pleases them. The laksa broth here would be deemed as slightly more hot ( in terms of spiciness) in terms of flavor, so would suit those...
