I used to frequent this cafe back when I lived in Malaysia, but today’s visit was disappointing. The cafe closes at 6 PM, and I arrived at 5:31 PM to get a coffee takeaway, only to be told by the (most likely) lead barista lady that the last order was at 5:30 PM and the coffee machine had already been cleaned and turned off. Fair enough. Not wanting to go home empty-handed, I decided to get a cake and asked for a recommendation, but the response I got from the same lady was, "ikut mana yang kau suka la"! Fine. I chose a tiramisu (which, to be fair, was delicious) and a locally-made canned drink. I then asked if they could make something that didn't need the coffee machine like plain tea for me to take away as well, but again, the lead barista gave a stern "no" (the other two staff members were friendly, however). I suggested they update their Google listing or website to show that last orders are at 5:30 PM. Instead of acknowledging the feedback, the lead barista just pointed to a handwritten note on this on their blackboard. But how is that useful if you have to be there first to see it? The impression I get was that they just could not wait for me to leave so they could close up and go home. This is such a let-down, but that said, I won’t let this experience ruin my trip home. There are plenty of great cafes in KK to explore, so I’ll avoid October for now and try...
Read moreAs the name suggest, its a cafe. Run like a family business, and thus one cannot expect a 5-star service. And yet, Vista Cafe has its unique appeal.
The menu is not super extensive but it has everyone's daily favorites. The family and I went to this place for weekday dinner (lunch too). We were not disappointed. We had the Fish Head Noodle Soup, Japanese-styled Beef Rice, Laksa, Sotong-Kangkong, etc. These were priced reasonably. For example, the Fish Head Noodle Soup was priced RM15 (2019). We were surprised with a small fruit-dessert bowls.
There were also other patrons to Vista Cafe that evening, and the atmosphere reminded us of a Malaysian-Chinese Restaurant in Melbourne. It is a nice quite place to dine in...
Read moreI had an amazing experience at Oktober Cafe in Sabah, Malaysia! The ambiance is cozy yet modern, and the service was impeccable.
I sampled a variety of drinks—the classic latte was velvety smooth, the hazelnut iced latte offered a perfect blend of nutty sweetness and refreshing chill, and the hand drip coffee was brewed to perfection. The smoked salmon crosssaint was a delightful treat, balancing savory and fresh flavors beautifully.
Overall, a 5-star experience that I can’t wait to relive. Highly recommend this gem for anyone looking to enjoy great coffee and...
