Cosy and classy ambience.Friendly, attentive staff. Once you dine here , there's no going back to bigger chains that only offer basic sushi. My choices here are from the menu. The kaiten belt selections are not as tasty or as fresh especially if you like sashimi slices. They can do better with more flavourful hot green tea. That said I give Azuma top marks for the following selections. White Tuna sashimi is flavourful and just the right softness.
Seared Salmon listed as Salmon Tataki is excellent with the seared sides contrasting with the sashimi surface with the right touch of soy, spring onions and garlic.
If you like a bit of extra luxury with your Seared Salmon, then opt for Seared Salmon with Truffle Sauce.
Salmon Tataki Roll and Crispy Unagi Roll are delicious and worth the price.
For delicious grilled fish, go for White Tuna Steak(Sakana Steak) with vegetables teppanyaki.
If you are a salmon lover, the Teppan Shake meaning salmon and grilled vegetables is what you need.
Their regular Chawan Mushi comes with scallops inside. For beef slivers and enoki mushrooms, go for Gyu Enoki Maki. For a different take on oysters, order the delicious Kaki Furai, deep fried oysters paired with tuna salad. For Unagi fans, their Unagi Kabayaki is thick and tasty. Azuma offers a premium experience for Japanese cuisine if you order from the menu. Azuma had recently undergone renovations to freshen up its interior. I took the opportunity to revisit the white tuna(shiro maguro) also known as butterfish sashimi. Still tastes good. I sampled a grilled salmon in butter soy sauce dish (Shake Ninniku Shoyu Butter Yaki)in its established menu. Delicious indeed if you like salmon. In its expanded sushi menu, I am impressed by the Aburi Mentai Hana Maki. It is more flavourful than the classic Hana Maki. The dainty looking belted up Unagi Sushi tastes good. I prefer this to the added tamago version because you're just paying more for egg slices. Salmon Aburi Mentai Sushi is a close equivalent of Aburi Mentai Hana Maki. It has the same flavour but smaller piece of salmon. If you prefer salmon slices generously coiled around a bit of gohan then Hana Maki and Salmon Aburi Mentai Sushi are ideal...
Read moreVery horrible experience we had our dinner here, one of the sushi (California rolls) was tasted sour (cucumber or tamago may gone bad). We took the sushi from the sushi conveyor belt, and it was dinner time, the sushi may gone bad due to putting long period of time. My boyfriend was person who ate the sushi and he spitted it out. We voiced out to the waitress about this issue. Waitress took the remaining uneaten sushi to the kitchen.
The chef ate the remaining sushi. We heard the chef told the waitress it tasted sour due to the vinegar in the sushi. Even though redo the sushi, the rice of the sushi will taste sour same as the current sushi.
Then, the waitress came to us and said tasted sour due to the vinegar of the sushi. But we told the waitress the sourness was not from the vinegar, cucumber may gone bad.
Waitress was back to the kitchen again and told to the chef. The chef teasingly told the waitress where got cucumber tastes sour? And asked the another waitress to try. The chef still taunted and said “ Where got sour? Crunchy!”
We heard everything that the chef said to the waitress because we are sitting near to the kitchen. The attitude of the chef was so rude and horrible! The chef still said to the waiter in a very rude way “if they want new one, just say only, we can do for them”.
It was an unpleasant and bad experience having our dinner here, we felt not respected. We’ve requested to cancel the California rolls at last.
The California rolls were not in the pictures due to spitted out before I got...
Read moreWas there as a tourist. Saw the fried beef I like and therefore decided to try.
The whole restaurant's atmosphere just made me feels busy, every service staff is like running all the time, but my green tea was never re-filled until I called one. The guy - probably the worst waiter I've ever met, I called him for green tea re-fill, without listening to me finishing my sentence, he just left without acknowledging while I still talked to his back and started to raise my voice because I worried he's too busy and couldn't catch what I said. I feel very stupid now. I know you are probably very smart and able to understand what I wanted, it just doesn't make people feel good. He then was busy jogging beside for like 3 minutes, and bring me back a whole pot green tea and smash very loudly on the table without a word. I really couldn't drink that, you know? I didn't even touch that.
The beef was totally different from the picture with quite a small portion, and tasted like same stuff from other western food restaurant that's probably 20rm you'll get it, but it cost 60+ here. Well done!
I was in another similar restaurant a day before the same level at Queensbay mall. I had a very good experience. Maybe my expectation was too high after that. Can't blame too much, you never know you made a bad choice until you...
