Boatman Restaurant — Restaurant in George Town

We'd been staying in the south of the Island and decided to visit Batu Ferringhi. Arrived late morning with very little open in BF except this little gem. Quite a large sign out front but the restaurant is set well back from the street and we weren't sure the place was open as there were no other guests (sometimes a sign that the food may not be up to scratch). Felt like fried rice and was not disappointed with the taste and the variety of ingredients including lots of chicken and prawn. Also had Singapore Bee Hoon - also good. The lady who runs the place was delightful and served us cold beer which can be hard to get on the island. Was looking at places to have for dinner. We were just standing outside but not sure if we should go in because it looks a little quiet.

We were very pleased to have dined at Boatman Restaurant. The food was really amazing; very tasty with wok hei taste. The portion of the chicken in the chicken curry was adequate for 2 people. Prices were rather reasonable as well.

Place was well ventilated with fan and the service staff was very friendly and even asked us about our food and if we needed more rice.. Etc.

If you are looking for a Chinese home feel cooking, this restaurant is to go. There are mainly Western cuisine listed. Nothing great, mostly home cooked feel. The restaurant is located right beside By the Sea. Very windy, cooling and comfortable restaurant. Its not fancy and a little old but it's comfortable for sure. Very friendly owner but waiting time can be a little long. Probably cause its one chef kick all in the kitchen. Good place to grab a home cook...
