Harvest In Café — Restaurant in George Town

Food- Tatse good. Service- visited the cafe few times. By this visit, I am upset with the attitude of the lady boss. I’m having dinner with my girl and we sit next to each other instead of opposite as she is 5 years old and requesting me to sit beside her. There are no customers next to both side table of our table. When we almost finishing our meals, the lady boss requested me to changed my sit due to the customer who make reservation want to add on the number of pax. Understand that she tried to make adjustments by adding a seat at the table behind me, but I did told her to give me few minutes as my girl is finishing soon (few spoon of spaghetti left). Then she unhappily said “she don’t want to move” in Bahasa melayu behind me. As a customer, I think it is inappropriate to asked people to change seat when we are half way eating. I think that customer would understand the situation if you explain that you will add a seat right after we finish as they last minute request to add on the number of pax. (That table of customer who requested to add on the seat is not fully occupied when we left-at least 4-5 seat vacant). At the same time, I am asking my girl to speed up as we understand customers are coming. From my observation, you have make arrangements for the reservation on the right side of the table initially for them and this is second time you switch the reservation to our left side as the customer claimed they may add on few pax. In this situation, you need to improve your arrangement and consideration of the current customer experience including attitude to customer as she don’t even said a word / conversation to me when I do payment (such as thank you nor clarify the order) …it makes me feel uncomfortable with...

The food was not bad but the service was bad. We ordered the food and drinks. For drinks, I got mentioned oranges without sugar and ice. But for chocolate ice blended I ordered without sugar and takeaway. Then they prepared the drink with sugar. When I informed them no sugar, the way they make me feel like they are going to prepare again without sugar one for me . But they didn’t. When we were about to leave, they just bring the drink out from kitchen behind. Then I saw all the staff eyes looking at each another. Makes me feel something was not right with the drink. Then I tested the drink, too sweet. So I approached them telling them the drink is very very sweet. But they insisted I ordered without informing without sugar. Then this makes me feel like, they are being dishonest. Because they trying to make me feel they made new drink for me without telling me , they can’t make new one for me. They thought they pack as takeaway, I will not test the drink on the spot. Wants me to take back and drink then only realise it’s very sweet then too late d .... I feel , even when we go cafe, the drink is too sweet also they will make new one , but they are not. If they are not willing to make new one, also they should inform me beforehand. Not pretending like nothing happen or pretending already change new one. If we went to kopitiam order they refuse to make new one we understand due to the pricing . When we come to cafe it’s also...

Strange feeling. It is a place that has a substantial menu and decent seating. The prices are alright too compared to many other restaurants serving similar fare. The service is pretty quick, and some of the food tasted pretty alright.

So what's the problem? Two of the four dishes we ordered were so small that we needed to have a second dinner. Funnily, both were fish dishes - garlic butter and creamy pepper. The garlic butter fish was not that tasty either and got overly buttery as the knob of butter was too large for the piece of fish.

In contrast the two others at the table who ordered chicken dishes - Cordon Bleu and Sous Vide - received more reasonable portion sizes. The Cordon Bleu was also somewhat disappointing.

On looking around at other diners it did seem that chicken and lamb dishes were indeed more substantial in size. So there you go, one person's sob story is another person's lesson as a free gift. Watch what you order.

We wanted to like this place more. Probably just our luck of the draw...
