Papelli — Restaurant in George Town

Having my Christmas Eve dinner ~ When We walk in to the restaurant, the restaurant smell heavy smoke like just got fire hazard, then it is ok, we continue with order our foods. We order mushroom soup, sea bass and pasta. After waiting for 40mins, our foods not yet serve, and when I follow up with the waiter, he said check for me, after waiting for another 10mins, finally the foods are served but they served my sea bass fillet first without served my appetizer mushroom soup, ok, it is fine.. after waiting for an hour we r pretty hungry, so we just proceed, after finish this the 2 dishes, my pasta not yet served, and when we ask, he said he follow up for us again.. n in the end, another waiter take the menu and ask me, which pasta we r order. Seriously??? After waiting for an hour plus?? And you never mark down my order?

P/s/: the waiter did give us a tiramisu and 15% discount for total bill.

I’m not accepted the tiramisu, and HEY!! you just spoil my Christmas Eve dinner with my love one, you really need to improved your restaurant system.

Average Italian (Spasso) restaurant, good service as no patrons at that time (1230pm) and nice setup. Same goes for the food, we tried their Pasta (Carbonara & Aglio Olio), Sea Bass, Turkey Ham and Spinach Penini, Tiramisu and Teas (English Breakfast & Earl Grey with Lavender). Notable dish or dessert is the Sea Bass and Tiramisu. This time when we were here a year ago (formerly called Spasso) the food was average but now since a change in management on this Italian food establishment (now known as Papelli), they have made it's food more delicious and exciting with new additional choices. We tried the Beef Bolognese Pasta, Beef Lasagne, Chicken Quesadillas, Smoked Salmon Pizza, Jalapeno Poppers, Pollo & Funghi Pizza. The notable ones are Beef Bolognese Pasta, Chicken Quesadillas and Jalapeno Poppers. The Beef Bolognese Pasta taste a tange of sourish, spices fragrant and meaty whereas the Chicken Quesadillas tasted like Herbal Chicken in wrap and the Jalapeno is NOT spicy but was creamy, cheezy and smokey. Service is unacceptable as for me who've worked in service industry before. Very unattentive staffs. We ordered margarita pizza and they came with "all cheese pizza" without basil and claimed to be the pizza we ordered. They didn't even inform us they were out of fresh basil. Example, you can't bring in an all cheese pizza and call it pepperoni pizza and tell us you are out of pepperoni right?? This is the first time in my life I've walked out of a restaurant. I paid for what I've eaten and left.
