We booked the Profolio apartment through an internet site and we were given the number of the agent to contact upon our arrival. Ken was pleasant and punctual. We were given clear instructions on where to meet. There's ample parking and we were lucky enough to get a lot that was on the same floor as the entrance so not so much schlepping needed.||The entrance is easily accessible from the Straits Quay promenade of restaurants and the whole area is nice and quiet. Very clean, upscale and the location was something we wanted to check out as there are several other properties near the area for sale.||Our apartment was right next to the lift. Always a plus as I don't like a lot of walking. There was very little noise from other guests, too.||The master bedroom was well appointed. Big king sized bed, flat screen tv, dressing table and wardrobe. Had the nicest en suite bathroom with big jacuzzi tub. Towels and other linens were ample and clean.||The second bedroom was rather sparse. There were 2 beds, each with roll aways underneath. Mattresses were firm, which I like and pillows were soft and downy, which I don't like. I usually tie the ends of a large t-shirt and stuff 2 pillows inside so I get a harder pillow. There was a tiny dressing table but no mirror in front of it. The en suite bathroom was spacious and they supplied toiletries as well.||There's a third bathroom which is the same size as the bathroom attached to the second bedroom.||The kitchen was quite well equipped but we had to rewash some of the cutlery and dishes as they had food residue. We arrived while the maid was still cleaning so I would like to think that she would have checked and rectified this. Small matter. There's enough crockery for 6, pots and pans to cook a full meal, toaster, oven, microwave, electric kettle and stove top. ||Fridge was nice and clean. Ken threw in some freebie sodas :)||We didn't use the washing machine but just stating that there was one. However, there's no detergent supplied. No problem, Sam's Groceria is just a quick hop downstairs.||The plus point of the place when we saw the pictures was the huge balcony. Sadly, there weren't many lawn chairs for us to utilize the balcony fully. We wanted to sit and laze at the balcony. The only drawback with the balcony is that the heat that comes off it is quite bad - even in the morning. By 10am, the living room was hot enough to need the air cond.||Pool ... pretty with plenty of nooks to just laze half in and half out of the water! I like all the trees around the pool. Gives it a lovely resorty feel. Kiddie pool is very basic - rectangle.||Profolio's location is quite ideal. There are several restaurants at Straits Quay. There's a grocery on the ground floor. For more cost savings ... Tesco's just round the corner. ||Penang PAC (Performing Arts Centre) is also here. Plenty of shows to catch! Year end sees the mega popular Popular Book sale. Another load of savings.||Weekends - flea market and street fair. ||We have been in this area a few times and it's always a...
Read moreThese pretigious properties are in a super location and overall, the complex affords a feeling of high life. KC is the main point of contact and does a good job within the boundaries a management agent can deliver. Problem is that nobody actually cares for the state of the property and the way that things work.||We checked into our first apartment but found that our main point of dissatisfaction was the lack of effectiveness of the A/C. Other items in the apartment didn't work so we moved to a different one. This had the same issue concerning ac so we pointed it out to KC. Other issues include that we had a total of one frying pan for all of our self catering equipment. Really poor equipment for cooking supplied. Wasing machine is great.||12 hours before we left, eventually an ac technician appeared and basically cleaned the filters of the ac unit which greatly improved the ac performance, but we spent 4 out of our 5 days chasing fixes.||Would visit again if we knew that a multitude of niggling faults were addressed.||Great bed, great restaurants on site, Tesco 5 minutes away. Great Tesco food court, not to be missed. On a key bus route for cost effective transport.||Bad point is standard of cleaning, for example, shower was...
Read moreThe apartment was quite nice and adequately furnished. There was a full kitchen which we didn't use apart from making tea and coffee, but you can cook if you wished. We had to pay a little extra for a sea view. However, we saw 1 small cockroach in the bathroom on 1 occasion which spoilt the overall impression somewhat. There is a swimming pool but no beach on the property. The TV channels are a bit fiddly to find if you are not used to a TV streaming box.||The location is next to a shopping centre, so there are a choice of eateries (mainly chains eg Healy Macs, Dome etc, only 1 local restaurant called Nyonya Breeze which is a branch but not as good as the main restaurant in town) around, as well a grocers which was well-stocked. It is not too far from Gurney Drive, but a long way from Georgetown and the tourist sites in town. So not ideal for tourists - far from tourist sites, no nearby beach. ||The place works like an Airbnb - someone meets you when you arrive and lets you in. We had the rubbish bin emptied on the second day, and we had some water replaced but not tea or coffee. The key is dropped off at the 7-Eleven on...
