Rumah Kacha — Restaurant in George Town

We were initially impressed with the restaurant - the waiter that served us was very polite, kind and professional. The ambience was good. The food was good.

However, at the end of the day it is all come down to service. After paying the bill, as we were leaving the restaurant, I asked nicely one of the man at the counter whether I can leave our stroller at a space near the restaurant entrance while we take a quick walk outside. I was expecting that the person might say no and I would be completely okay with it. However, I did not expect the man just rolled his eyes and showed that he was irritated by our request. He didn't say yes or no - just simply showed us his rude disapproval face. My husband and I found it really uncalled for. He could've declined our request professionally without that rude attitude. We would understand. But we cannot accept his rude attitude which was really unnecessary and uncalled for. Shocked, we just left the restaurant without further interaction with that rude person.

The nice experience dining in the restaurant was completely ruined. There would be no way on earth I would recommend the restaurant or ever step my foot again in that restaurant.

Although the food and place were nice, but there are hundreds of other restaurants in Penang that offer similar foods without such terrible attitude to customers.

So yes, hugely disappointing experience. What a shame that the waiter worked so hard to give us good service while his arrogant and rude colleague/owner (I am not sure which one) just decided to ruin its own reputation.

So yes, it deserved one star. That would be the the first and last time dining in...

🐣 This restaurant is very accessible because it is located right in the heart of Georgetown, a place where many other interesting shops are also worth exploring. Usually, many tourists visit this area.

🐣 It is right in the center and often hosts various events. The restaurant’s interior is very appealing from the outside because all the walls are made of glass. The kitchen is also open, allowing us to enjoy watching the cooking process.

🐣 The menu offered is quite diverse and reasonably priced. We ordered grilled chicken salad, sticky Thai glazed chicken wings, and a juicy Lucy burger. For drinks, we ordered a root beer float and iced peach tea. You can help yourself to utensils and tissues from the corner provided.

🐣 The food portions are quite generous. Worth the price. I liked the chicken wings; they were perfect and felt like i would take flight with the chicken, haha. Unfortunately, the chicken in the grilled chicken salad was too dry. It could be improved in the future. The salad could also use more crunch elements, such as apples or walnuts. However, overall, the combination was delicious and tasty. The drinks were also very refreshing.

🐣 The atmosphere inside is very relaxing, with soft music playing in the background. The well-lit ambiance adds a beautiful touch and makes us feel even closer to the people we're dining with.

🐣 For parking, you might have to park a bit farther away and walk to the restaurant, but it won't feel tiring because the path is adorned with beautiful murals that will delight your eyes and...

RUDE OWNER.

I was having a great time until…..i was shouted at by someone i’m assuming is the owner.

we took normal amount of time to eat as we ordered some extra food too. Right after we finished eating, the owner shouted from FAR asking if we were done and that he needs the table. Air pun tak habis lagi.

I find that rude because it was in front of everyone there. He could have come closer to us to let us know there were people waiting outside. It would’ve been perfectly fine. We understand je. I’m genuinely curious why the waiter did not just tell us directly as he was near our table, walking around us plenty of times.

I checked the google review after (It was my fault for not checking prior to visiting the place) to see a lot of people faced the same poor customer service from the staffs as well, walaupun the staffs were not rude to us but i still believe the staffs might have been rude to others because their boss is terrible to begin with.

Kalau staff rude you can consider to come again, but if the head himself is rude? yeah...
