Wells Cafe — Restaurant in George Town

Atmosphere - it was rather busy on the ground floor. We sat on the upper level and that was really nice, chilled and a comfy space for us to be lazy after a day of wandering in the heat.

Service was good - staff friendly and knowledgeable. Provided great recommendations.

We had drinks - the red bean tea was unique! Red beans were roasted and prepared as a pourover in place of coffee beans. Fragrant, sweet and subtle flavours of red bean came through. Very enjoyable. We also had filtered coffee with beans from Alishan, Taiwan. That was really interesting too - subtle caramel-like sweetness on the nose, traces of preserved plum on the palate, light and enjoyable. Good for those who are looking for coffee with a different tasting profile.

A place for coffee lovers, catering a variety of coffee bean profiles to entice your tastebuds.

Spent a couple hours there on a weekend afternoon, was surprised to have found a quiet space with good coffee.

Comfortable interior designed with simplicity, huge windows allowing sunlight to set in comfortably brightening the space for a good read; and taking photos. (Please excuse my photos for not being professional, it doesn’t do the space justice.) Thoughtful choice of furnitures, seats at the bar are comfortably cushioned.

Limited choice of dessert at the moment, hoping to have more choices of snacks and cakes in future.

May be hard to look for parking spaces during lunch and dinner time, but good coffee is always...

Overall great environment and atmosphere, very quiet and chill place with amazing interior especially the upper floor. However, the staff at the cashier is not very welcoming and unfriendly. I asked for recommendation for the hand brewed coffee and the answer is:”depends what you like…” how can that be helpful? There were variety selection of beans and she can’t explain or suggest a lil bit more… Moreover, the tone and expression is so not welcoming. Not only me but my friends do experienced the same as well. The cheesecake tasted very bad, looked and tasted like overnight cake and they freeze it again. It melted abit with some water on the plate and the texture is not right, it’s not smooth and you can feel the...
