First time dining here and I was really impressed! The staff were very friendly and even the owner personally came to my table to apologize for a small mistake with my chicken order — such sincerity truly surprised me.
Service was also very fast, and the food was absolutely delicious. I especially want to highlight the boiled chicken, which was exceptionally juicy, and the BBQ roasted pork—with its thick, flavorful glaze, super crispy skin, and moist, tender meat inside.
What makes Sin Nam Huat stand out even more is its reputation as one of Penang’s go-to places for authentic Hainanese-style roast meats. Locals and food bloggers consistently praise their wide variety of perfectly marinated and roasted meats—especially the char siu, sio bak, roast duck, roast chicken, and poached chicken—and their signature chili and duck sauces elevate the flavors to another level .
The place feels humble and bright, with spacious seating and quick service. It’s part of a local chain that started in Air Itam years ago and now has several outlets across Penang, yet the food quality remains consistently excellent .

Read moreI tried the 4 meat mixed set, together with bean sprouts and 2 rice. I think i found one of the best char siew and roasted pork i tried! But why so small plate compared to the chicken and duck?
I would rate 5 stars if i only tried the char siew and roasted pork!
The charsiew is so well caramalised and it is not dry! The roasted pork skin is so crispy too (but on a saltier side)
However, they sell one of the worst chicken and duck i had..🫠
The chicken is dry and tough and lacks fragrance.. The duck (which i rank the worst out of the 4 meats i tried) is so dissapointing. It is the saltiest duck i had.. so salty even when paired with rice..lacks the roasted taste too. Please do NOT order.🥴
The chilli is not bad but also not exeptional. The rice is ok too. Not too wet, too dry, nor too oily. Chicken rice flavour is there but not overpowering. The bean sprouts are...
Read moreWe had our lunch here around 11:45am and the shop started to get crowded that time. We ordered Chicken Rice with oily rice. We enjoyed both the Chicken rice with Roasted Chicken and Steamed Chicken. We also ordered big Chai Boey Soup that taste great, just will be even best if it was served with more mustard(vege). We enjoyed Lettuce served with Ba Hu(Chicken floss). We ordered hot coffee, taste a bit bitter like burnt taste, slightly lack of milk, sweetness is average, taste average in overall. The Chicken rice was served with clear soup that taste good. We enjoyed the dine in experience here. We spent RM39.35 here. Here you can Order at counter or scan the QE code on the table to order. You could pay with cash when they deliver the good to your table or pay by scanning the QR codes...
